Looking to do a resonator delete looking at buy mbrp x pipe t409. Anyone have these? I also saw one on lethal performance for 349 the mbrp is 219. Are they different in sound?

sound is basically the same between all the X pipes, larger diameter tends to sound deeper. i personally have the shiftech H pipe

A buddy put the MBRP on his and honestly it was not significantly better than stock. I like the sound of the stock so much, I have been reluctant to change it.

We're mixing apples and oranges here.

If it's JUST a resonator delete (aka replacing the resonators with straight tubing) it won't make a different whether it's akropovic titanium or your local muffler monkey steel tubing. You won't be able to tell the difference from one tube to another.

If however, the "kit" is more than just replacing the resonators and involves modifying or replacing the factory x pipe, there may be some slight noticeable differences (you can notice a difference between H pipe and X pipe, but usually only when they're side by side, listening to them together.

I am also considering the resonator delete. I am finding out that this topic is laden with conflicting information. Based on what I have determined so far; the 350R and 350 have the identical X-pipe and the only difference in the exhaust system is the resonators and the connection of the resonator to the pipe - on the 350 that section appears to reduce down to a 2 1/2" portion where they meet the exhaust. The 350R does not have that reduction and the piping remains the same size throughout.

Anyone have a suggestion on just having a muffler shop cut out resonators and simply put in a piece of tubing to match the existing diameter of remaining pipe? Seems to me that no system is required; just a good exhaust shop that does decent welding.

Hell some of the kits use flanges that get tightened by a screwdriver... no welds which I found odd.

Reading multiple threads, you may run into a couple of issues going to your local muffler shop. They may not stock SS pipe, and even if they do, it may not be the size required. Even with the kits available you should carefully compare size and material used.

That's not quite accurate. The only difference is that the R doesn't have resonators. Full stop. The diameters in the rest of the system are the same (hence using the same mufflers, tail sections, etc).

The reason there are "kits" sold is for the do it yourself crowd. You can cut them out and simply slip/clamp vs welded connections. At the end of the day, if a section of steel piping is from Johnny's exhaust shop or comes from a vendor kit, it will sound the same. Ironically, the cost is comparable either route (you pay MORE for a vendor kit, then your own labor/time is free, you pay LESS for Johnny's materials, but you pay for his lift and labor).

If not reconfiguring anything else in the system (like the factory x) and it's just replacing resonators with straight tube, the cars will sound the same. What blurs the issue is that some of these vendor "kits" go beyond the resonator delete and start going further and swapping out factory x pipe for other stuff. At the end of the day, it'll still sound VERY similar but starts to change the configuration of the exhaust slightly (but the headers and the mufflers are the chief components of what makes the sound)

So... I am 100% correct in what I wrote. Your response is exactly what I meant. Not trying to be difficult here but it is exactly what I wrote.

Cut the damn resonator out - replace with piping of same size allowing no reductions = R sound.

Except there's no difference in tube size between the two. The R has no resonators, the non-R has them, cut them out, same size pipe for each car. That's all I was pointing out.

Do a search on this topic. It was discussed extensively back in 2016-17 and it was determined go to the local muffler shop and cut them out and weld in a section of pipe. This was before the kits were available.

Ours has American Racing long tube headers with a Corsa X pipe which does the resonator delete. Not a cheap way to go for sure but it was done by the previous owner and I can tell you the sound is Awesome!!! PO had a personalized Texas plate "LOUD 350" It is! Also made 503 HP at the wheels after tuning.

I have the Lethal in my 2019 GT350. The steel quality is better than the MBRP. However ALL the standard X-pipes are going to sound the same. They are all mostly the same size (3"). The ones under 350 are typically lower quality stainless steel (T409) than the ones over 350 which are better quality stainless (T304). Corsa went a little different and longer (IE you remove more of the stock exhaust system) and use two X's vs. the standard 1x).

I ordered a resonator delete x-pipe from MRBP direct back in April, there was a pop-up to sign up and save so sure. $166.49 shipped to me. Installed on jack stands in the garage, straight forward. It has a deeper growl now and is louder. I liked the OEM sound and liked hearing the Corsa dual helix but the $. No complaints with the MRBP
