Nations unit here going on 6 years. I drive her about 2k miles a year but they’re never easy miles. With the South Florida heat the only issue I’ve had is to replace the external regulator which was about 5 min and $30 IIRC.

I don't want to seem like an a hole here but when I was finishing up my car I needed a cheapie alternator just to get the car started and running. I went with one from DB electrical. I have only put a few hundred miles on it but it idles around 14v cold, runs about 13.5-13.8 warm driving around / idle, and about 12.8 - 13 wot. Not the greatest choice but I was surprised by the half way decent voltage numbers.

FYI I do plan on replacing with this, I have laying around.

I did something similar to this - just a very cheap, basic 105a direct replacement unit - off of amazon iirc.

That was over 5 years and 36,000 miles ago - so, I have no complaints!

So far so good... 03' White Snake said he has been using one for a while now with no issues.

Going to keep Nations alternator on ice in case something happens with this one.

Anyone want the stock alternator for a rebuild or anything?

My Terminator still has the original alternator. So far so good. I'd have to check but I think the mileage is only about 25,000. Drove it for 200 miles recently and the 9 year old battery voltage read around 13.8 while driving. If it fails I will switch to a 200A w/ BIG 3 upgrade.

The only things so far that has failed in my Terminator were the original radiator fan and two aftermarket fuel pumps which were not compatible with E85. I (and many others) thought they were but found out later they weren't.

I have an ebay one as a backup. I pulled it off the car with only 2-3k miles. I did this because I got a good deal on a Mechman and felt safer using that. Does no one use Mechman? Mine stays in the 14 volt range and sees high 13s when in stop and go traffic in the FL heat. But gets back up when I start moving and air starts flowing through the vent tube i installed. IMO the best thing you can do to help prolong the life of your alternator is install some sort of vent and get some air moving in there.
