J2Fab flowmod/customer service help needed

Last November I purchased an intercooler flow mod and adapter, as well as an alternator for my Cobra. I've been having an impossible time trying to rectify an issue with the adapter - here I am almost a year later and I still don't have what I paid for. This is sort of a public plea for help, or perhaps to garner some attention from J2Fab since all other means of rectification have been exhausted or ignored. I don't mean to complain or throw anyone under the bus, however I'm feeling fairly helpless at this point.

The alternator order was 'lost' and delayed for months and months, and after several communications with Lethal and J2Fab, I finally received it about 4 months later. This has nothing to do with the intercooler adapter, but this is a story about cumulatively-poor customer service and adds to the overall problem I've been facing.

The intercooler mod and adapter took several months longer of empty promises or 'it's done, just needs to ship out' but didn't get shipped for weeks. When the adapter finally arrived, it was incomplete and in poor shape. There were deep gouges/scars/chunks missing on almost every rib of the barbs externally and no finish/chamfering on the inside. It also lacked all of the hardware necessary for mounting to the intercooler (which is supposed to be included in the flow mod package). Jay himself acknowledged that the adapter was improperly fabricated and lacked the hardware they are supposed to include.

Multiple promises have been made to replace the adapter -

'I have one in stock, I'll send it immediately' *3 months of regular requests and nothing was sent out*
'I thought that was sent out already' *wasn't*
'I don't have any around the shop, I'll make a new one and send it out' *4 months of regular requests without any response to my communications, no adapter replacement sent*

I've called, emailed, facebook'd and I flat out have no faith that I will receive a replacement at this point. I have about $700 in this mod between shipping and fabrication. I am about 6 months too late to be able to dispute the charges with my credit card.

Anyone have any ideas? Or contact with Jay at the shop? Anyone want to sell me an intercooler adapter so I can at least complete my build in lieu of J2Fab making good on this?

Pictures attached. I mounted it using throttle body screws just so the intercooler/intake isn't exposed to debris. The gouges are sharp and significant enough to make me question longevity of a hose clamped to it, let alone the seal.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. You're not alone, a lot of people have been posting similar complaints all over the place including social media.

Someone posted some policies with charging back claims on your credit card, since so many people are in the same situation, and since you've received defective items and also still waiting on items that have never been received you still have rights to get your CC charges reversed. At least that's how the guy explained it. Give your credit card a call and explain the situation to them. They will be able to advise you best.

Like Malcolm said you re not the first to be in this situation. The pressure seems to be building on j2fab and the lid has to be coming off soon. Just be glad you got your modded intercooler and didn't buy his disaster of an intercooler.

I think you'd be better off to repair your existing adapter than deal with j2fab, maybe mod it like Malcolm did for a better fit and cleaner look.

Fyi I believe Justin's svtp user name is NM2 so I'd message him here too.

Sorry to hear your troubles. I'd be upset just as you are and post up what you did, but I'd run that if it were the only thing keeping the car on jackstands.

Uh oh.

What’s the story on his IC. I recall he has a whole setup but it was ridiculous at like over 2k.

Seemed to have some promising products, maybe the follow though isn't there though. Curious to know. Was about to pick up a second upgrade alt from him but now worried.
See this a lot with places like this, guys start side gigs make some cool shit then don't have the time to do it right and right by the customers. Seems like a good deal making money off a hobby and mods you were doing for yourself anyway but if you have a 9-5, finding time to be a legit business on the side is damn near impossible.
Respect POSI for that, when he got busy with life and or tired of it bowed out with grace and said goodbye.

You can get the idea of what's going on via Facebook. Summary is that you get no customer service after the purchase. J2fab intercoolers are actually interheaters, some people are on revision 3 that failed. Tons of stories just search it out.

My suggestion is to have a fab shop fix it.

Care to elaborate. Not taking his side at all just want as much info as possible for my own stuff. I dont do Facebook so cant see what you're talking about. I know you know what's up when it comes to good tech though.

I had to cut off and repair a tube on my flow mod becuase of a hole that was ground into it because poor welding, I as well got with no hardware with it. It took forever to get my alt and I'm also sitting on a useless intercooler. I gave up on tying to get answers and anything from him and filed a claim on my CC. My car was down waiting for his IC to show up bought in January with a 2-5 week lead time didn't get it till mid June, then to be followed up by ripping it back out 2 days after getting it up and on the road due to sky high IAT2's. I never will buy or support them ever again.

I also had to fix another members flow mod due to the tubes being too close to each other. couldn't fit both hoses on it.

well, perhaps this actually worked. Justin called me about an hour ago and is sending out a new unit and hardware tomorrow!

thanks for the support, y'all

hope you actually get what you paid for.

I knew I should have cut bait when my alternator "got lost by the UPS store" but stupid me waited another week to let him send it (this was like 2 years ago).

WOW what a complete joke. Nobody should every have to complain on a forum to get a company to provide the components they were payed for. I was honestly thinking about contacting them to do a custom intercooler for my 2.1. Now after reading everything in this thread I'll take my business somewhere else.

Why would your IAT2's go up? Until today everything I had read talked about how bad ass his intercooler was and how it lowered temps.

That would be the modded stock intercooler the new j2fab intercooler is the equivalent of plumbing a heater into the intake.

But why? What is so different about his intercooler that is causes temps to increase?

There is a lot of excuses but I don't think they know why. If they did some guys wouldn't be on the 3rd design that has also failed.

Sucks, stock design isn't overly robust but haven't really seen an aftermarket option beat it.
