Next. As mentioned, our AC took a crap. Thankfully I know people who got up and running till they our new install yesterday. Trane 20 seer (Old was a 14) View attachment 1651229 View attachment 1651230 View attachment 1651233 View attachment 1651235 system. It’s stupid, in a good way. Finally programmed it this morning. I’m ashamed, had to read the t-stat book. Inside and outside units communicate, and both are variable speed. It’s wild to watch thing run, because it barely it. Ramps up and down based on temps. Quiet, unreal how quiet it is. The system is has internet, so I can control or watch from my phone. I would think the electric bill should drop, but it was cheap as hell before. Only thing left is the electric roll down shutters. Pictures below.

We replaced our A/C system (Trane as well) about 5 years ago. So much better than the one it replaced (not a Trane). That's neat that you can control your system with a phone app. I can do that, too, with our Nest thermostat setup. Our A/C is 2-zone (upstairs and downstairs/basement office) so it's nice to be able to go away and know that I can adjust the temps if needed while away.

well that's fancy as hell!

I just bought a cheap honeywell thermostat with wifi and it's great. If I go out of town I can turn up the temp then when I leave to come home just log in and turn the temp back down. The monthly report is nice too - gives you average temp this month vs this month last year and how many hours the system ran for cooling, heat, and off.

Yeah, this thing is wild. It's interesting to watch the compressor speed on the t-stat or phone. I still can't believe how quiet this thing is. Sorry about the sideways pictures. I may have had a few and don't know how to use my phone. lol

Awesome progress, house looks great! Turned into much bigger than just a driveway project.

Thank you. I kinda figured I just add to this one. It did, most was planned except the AC system. Roll down and accordion shutters are next. Then, pretty much done besides some inside paint that I'll do.

Forgot to point out that the exterior color of the house (along with the white stripe) looks really good. I would bet there are many houses near you with the shade of gray. I really like it. I'd say the value of your home has been bumped up a few notches, Brad!

Anyone question a higher seer rating for a AC system, look. Last month was $128. The cut off was perfect with this new system. Time will tell, and I personally don’t believe it. It runs more than the old one, but at lower speeds.

what temps do you set it to? $128 is cheap as hell to start with. I think mine was $200 last month keeping it at 75 all the time

You guys are killing me at 75 or 76 degrees in the house. Mine stays at 70 during the day and 66 at night. I hate the heat lol. Last night was tough, we lost power from a storm around 6 and didn't get it back until around 3am. I was laying in the bed with my ryobi battery powered fan trying to keep me cool.

Asphalt is still pretty expensive and it's way too soft for jackstands or similar.

Definitely no jackstands on asphalt without some wood underneath. Asphalt is a great answer to long driveways, but you'd want concrete around your garage/shed or wherever you plan to use said jackstands.

I just had 14 yards of concrete poured for an RV slab.. had quotes ranging from $4500-10000 for cement all-in.

Asphalt guy wanted $2200.

I ended up finding a "buddy" who does concrete on the side and I got the whole thing done for $3500. I was real close to pulling the trigger on the asphalt guy!

Damn.

My house is pretty well insulated lol. I don't even have AC and it hasn't hit 80 inside. Even if it's over 90 degrees all day.

Im still not quite sure how yours is that low to start with honestly.
All LED lights, time clock on the hot water tank(big savings), VS pool pump and programmable t-stat. House goes to 81 from 7-4:30. 2 refrigerators and 2,400 under air. The house is insulated very well. After hurricane Charley the guys who came to insulate the house were friends Of mine and they blew way more that they were supposed to.
