2013 Rear View Camera

I just purchased a car I have been chasing for three years. I found a very nice 2013 Impact Blue Convertible with everything except Recaros. I am thrilled. There are a couple of things I plan on doing, so any advice would be awesome.

One, I am looking to uninstall an aftermarket rear view camera. The install appears to have been done very neatly, no drilling and very discretely. However, I am looking to bring the car back to bone stock. Any ideas on how big of a job this is? I am hoping there was no splicing or aggravation. I am hoping it is just a plug and play. What am I looking at for a challenge?

Two, the car had some type of protection film installed on the nose and mirror backs. I am not impressed with the job and would like to remove it. However, the film is over the stripes and I see the seams and it just looks horrible up close. I am not impressed with the install. Anyone have any idea on what's entailed in taking this stuff off? I am fearful of screwing up the stripes when removing the film. Any ideas would be awesome.

Thanks as always and happy 4th!

Congratulations!

In regards to the camera, if it is already done I would leave it. I was VERY disappointed these didn't have a camera from the factory on their flagship model. Personally, it's done and if it looks good as you state, I would keep it.

The film can be removed. I would talk to a few shops about removal. I have 3M on mine and it has saved a lot of damage on the front of the car. Yes, you will likely ruin the stripes. You might get a set of stripes in hand before doing any removal. If it is as bad as you say, I would remove but definitely put it back on.

I wish mine had a rear cam. If it’s clean leave it unless you’re doing judged shows. -J
Concours isn't my thing, but I've done lots of judged shows and never had a problem with my front and rear cameras.

Thanks everyone for your input. Here is an update;

1. I have an appointment set up with an electronics place that installs stuff like this for the end of the week. I am hoping this may be a wireless install, but we shall see.
2. I took the plunge and removed the film today myself. It was about a three hour job, but got through it and did not damage the stripes at all! I was thrilled to say the least.

Thanks again.

Good job on preserving the stripes! I wish there was a guaranteed way to install the clear bra or a wrap, and be able to remove it without damaging them. If so, I would cover my car.

Mine has clear bra but they installed AROUND the stripes. So, they are technically exposed and can be damaged and I do have a few chips now. But the other areas have been saved from a lot of damage.
