So I sold my home early this year, have been 'housesitting' for a family member since then, and am planning my next move to a 'Red' state. Im completely liquid as far as funds go, and it is very tempting to buy a house with cash.

It will be an uphill battle, because my wife (yep) is going to be having our baby boy (yep yep) by Thanksgiving Day, and her family is here in San Diego (and Hawaii) so I will have to do some serious persuading.

I ****ing hate whats happened to this once great state, and I don't want my kid surrounded by this horrible bullshit being passed off as 'normal'.

I am leaning towards a place with a lake that I can buy a boat and wakeboard/ski on, since I grew up going to Havasu and Laughlin and have very fond memories of that.

Lets hear it, sell me on your state!

You sound like a guy that has rejected the left. If so I didn't mean to come off harsh.

You will find red states much better run than blue and won't have a constant reason to argue with some dumbass liberal.

Indiana. Very cheap, kind of boring, weather sucks a bit unless you like four seasons. Nice lakes in Northern part of the state. State ran very well. Ok, so this probably didnt sell you... I am not from here, but will find it hard to leave...

Born and raised in IN. Moved to TN for 4 years. Too effing hot and humid in the summer, and we moved back to Indy in 2013.

Our weather does suck a bit in Winter, but, hey, global warming will help.

Taxes aren't too bad bad. Standard of living is in the middle.

I'll probably live here the rest of our lives, sans having a vacation home somewhere.

Ohio is Red, however the major cities of Columbus and Cleveland tend to be blue. Cincinnati leans red, but lots of blue as well.

Rural areas and outside outerbelts tend to be red here. The economy seems to be resilient and the county I reside in (Delaware) has been staunchly red. Delaware has been one of the fastest growing counties in the state and country for the past 10 years.

You might laugh at this suggestion, but South Dakota is gorgeous in the western side of the state, in the black hills area. Cost of living is very reasonable and it is a RED state. You get four seasons but your kid would be raised in an area where conservative values are cherished and pride still matters. Mount Rushmore is still inspiring to see in person especially at night.

Upstate SC. Very pro gun, pro life, and pro law & order. Right to work state. Booming economy. Not to mention it’s a beautiful area with awesome lakes near Clemson. Weather is outstanding. Only downside to SC is state income tax. Just stay away from the Midlands and LowCountry, much more liberal.

As for TN, great state. Very much different from West to East. Have lived in Memphis and now Outside of Knoxville. East TN is great, don’t go any further west than Nashville.

I live in Ohio and while it’s red, it can lean blue. I like it hear more or less because family, I hate winter. If I was moving Texas all the way with SC being a close second.

What county you in?

BTW- If I had to move it would be SC then TX! Yes, winters can really suck here, especially northeast Ohio.

Florida's awesome if you don't mind heat, humidity, mosquitos that can carry you away, alligators that will eat your dogs (and you if not smart), road projects that take forever, and tourists out the ass.

Concealed carry, no state income tax, tons of boating and fishing. Don't go further south than @03cobra#694 unless you speak Spanish or make "high 6 figures"

Big cities being blue are true across the country
