Evidently trucking companies have unlimited money to buy replacement trucks.

Under guidelines approved Thursday, at least 40 percent of the tractor trailers sold in California would have to be powered by some form of zero-emissions technology by 2024. Medium-duty trucks, such as the Ford F-250 or Chevrolet Silverado HD, would be required to switch over 55 percent of their sales by 2035; and 75 percent of delivery trucks and vans would have to use zero-emissions powertrain technology by 2035, a point by which fully 100 percent of government fleets and last-mile delivery trucks would have to meet the target.

California shakes up auto industry, says all vans and trucks must be electric by 2024

Damn, I bet products sold and shipped to California are going to get really ****ing expensive.

What about the 12 or 14 states that have adopted Cali emissions? Does that mean diesel trucks can't transit the state? Seems like a clear case of interstate commerce interference to me.

CA continues to force their progressive green policies upon their residents and businesses, all the while claiming they're being the "leader" for the rest of the country/world. This latest news should hurt CA businesses and raises a number of important questions/issues. JMO.

I would be interested to see the population inflow/outflow numbers for business and citizens. Given the state’s poor financial condition I suspect a death spiral is coming in the next twenty years. Their only saving grace is the natural beauty of the state and weather.

Anyone living in CA should not be surprised. This state is hell bent of forcing companies and businesses to conform to whatever crazy BS they come up with. I've gotten into arguments with some of the crazy hard core lefties I know and they buy into whatever the state pushes without questioning anything, it's actually scary. When I point out that things like this will not only drive out business but also increase our cost of living their attitude is basically ****em if they don't want to conform and they can leave. They basically stab themselves in the hand and then ask why it hurts.

Living in this state and hearing some of the insane legislation proposed by our elected officials I am fully convinced the people will eventually elect enough lunatics that gas and diesel vehicles will be outlawed entirely or they will tax fuel so hard they will force it all out of the state. Ami Bera himself actually wanted to propose legislation to tax gas so much that as he put it would force people to use alternate modes of transportation or buy EV's. This is just the tip of the iceberg that will eventually hit the state head on.

Unless something drastic happens my wife and I will not be retiring here and if I could I'd move out of CA tomorrow because its just getting worse with no light at the end of the tunnel. Even though we have a lot of years before we can float the idea of retiring we plan to start making trips to others states to try and figure out where we want to spend our final days.

I wonder how many new warehouses will be built on the CA/AZ line. But with the other states using CA emissions, how the hell will they get there?

Yet, when was the last electric power plant built in Cali? (I mean something generating 1,000 plus MW)

There hasn't been one commissioned in years. If fact the environmentalists have been forcing smaller hydro plants to close. PG&E has even agreed to close the only nuke plant. The state actually lined their pockets to do it in addition to essentially paying for the decommissioning. The politicians seem to be happy to transport power in from other states regardless of how it is made. Prime example is the nuke power that enters SoCal from Arizona. This coupled with de-regulation has driven up electricity costs and again the politicians could care less.

If the republicans in Fed govt had balls they could address a lot of through interstate commerce clause as mentioned above. They could address the filth of street people through EPA and bypass state crap...As a republican/independent our republican senate, atty gen., has done absolutely nothing for all the criminal crap the dems did to Trump and my view is they want him out too....They are part of the swamp..

Our company and most of the bigger local truck companies have simply stopped shipping to cali. The weight and emissions restrictions don't make it anywhere near profitable. Was funny as hell to hear the bitching that we won't ship there anymore. Seriously though, a lot of places are being black listed by the medium to small companies. It simply is NOT worth it from a safety or financial point of view. We aren't even going past Idaho anymore for those reasons.

I hate it for the many decent folks living in CA but lets face it- with the lunatics in govt I can't blame any company for not shipping there. I wonder what would happen if oil companies stopped making their special gas...
