Hi everyone, this post will be kind of long but i feel its important to give all of the info.

2013 GT500, NSR cams, RXT clutch, sticky tire

Car has been sitting a few months from winter. Fast forward to Saturday morning and I just put new Bias ply ET street pros on my car to try. I went to do some data logging so i did a 2nd gear burnout down my driveway to heat the tires and check contact patch. everything looked good, did a couple pulls and parked it for a few hours.

A couple hours later I went to data log some more pulls. I did a 2nd gear standing burnout and could tell there was some clutch slip. I went to make some pulls and they seemed fine. I compared my logs with RPM and MPH to known previous logs and they matched so I figured the clutch held fine. when parking in the garage I could definitely smell clutch.

fast forward 24 hours I go to pull the car out of the garage and the release is all of the way at the end of the pedal, definitely way different then normal. after warm up I pegged the throttle in 5th gear, clutch held for about 3 seconds and then started slipping bad.

has anyone experienced this? i cant believe this clutch would die like that. Is there another area I can look? possible bad TOB, or clutch spring screwing things up? the breaks feel fine so i dont think there is air in the line and would this be a symptom anyway?

Thanks,

I just replaced my Spec clutch for the same symptoms. Call me this evening, we'll chat. I have a transmission floor jack you can borrow if you tackle the job yourself.

Cerametallic clutches dont smell or slip from my experience. I have fuzed a few metallic clutches together because they did not indicate slip or smell like an organic would to tell me to "not send it".
My experience has been that when they get hot enough they grip more and weld/fuze together, so this baffles me a little. Maybe I just kill my clutches harder. lol

I have always killed them on 2nd gear burnout as well with too much tire and too little pressure. My lesson learned is I dont do dry burnouts on the streets anymore and puddle only going forward.

its not a typical organic clutch smell for sure. I have never heard a problem with it yet, my first thought was these new tires dont like to do a burnout without water, no biggie. typically i like to heat my tires up before i make a datalog pull on the street.

Yea my bet is you are gonna find like I did and need a puddle to get them going on the street. Good luck. I just put an RXT in mine because I fuzed my last clutch together doing the same thing on street hits on a prepped road. Shot a bunch of sparks on the burnout from the clutch. I said **** it and sent it and made a hell of a pass. At the end of the pass it was fuzed together and had to get towed home. that was fun. lol

What happened? Looks like it wasnt dis engaging

Looks like the spacing on the floater wasnt right? They claim they're good to go from the factory but also give you a whole process to check with a drill press... they can be a fickle beast if you're not "lucky"

I am not sure what happened really. it has been on the car for say 3,000 miles. Always felt fine until my first post in this thread where I described it. It is frustrating as my car always gives me issues when I am busiest in life (another baby) so I have my buddys shop doing the work.

Does anyone have any recommendations? NSR cams, bolt-on's, E-85

Curious if anyone using Mantics? Seems like it would be a good compromise but don’t see much on them here other that on ‘Tube.

I believe there was one guy who did a review on here. I think the RXT series satisfies most needs of the members on here and dont cost the Mantic cash is why you dont see more.

I believe Mantic is what Shelby in Las Vegas uses in their builds and sell. You might post over on the Shelby forum and see if you get any responses.

Similar symptoms here. I guess I'll be replacing mine as well.
