IC, aftercooler or meth?

So after fittiling around with a junk bypass and disappointing dyno numbers I am tossing around not worrying about my trans this yr and thinking of one of the 3 upgrades above. Now I did get a new bypass hooked up but havent tested to see if if cleared up. But I will say the bladder of the new one is so smooth and doesn't get hung up like the old one. Aside from that what of the above 3 is best in terms of cost, install and efficiency? THe whole IC setup seems like ALLLLOT of work and allot of piecing things together. Meth just seems, meh..... I was truly thinking of getting a aftercooler.

Initially my car was fitted with an aftercooler which was fine but the main reason I went to intercooler was to be able to run a blow through setup. Blow through is where it's at as far as drivability goes.

Meth would be very far down on my list of ways to reduce detonation. To many things to fail and cause significant damage quickly. Air to air isn't hard to fab up and there is nothing to go wrong. Unless its a dedicated track car looking for the lowest iats on each pass an air to air would be #1 all day for me.

I have a Kenne Bell setup on my pushed motor. IC seems like too much effort in my case. Most of the time the blower is sitting in a vacuum unless I am on it. My plan is to go with meth but keep a conservative tune since im pushing 500hp or so now. It should help with the heat soak inherent with the KB design. If I had a forced induction that was more IC friendly I would go that route as it is a passive means to keep temps down vs. one that requires active components and "fuel".

Air to air. The pipe routing is not as difficult as you think. Plenty of people have done it by now. And as mentioned, air to air lets you go to a blow through set up.

I guess I should have stated that I have no access to a welder nor can I fabricate. Is there a kit out there that I can use to pc together a IC. IC unit itself I priced at around 300, BOV another 300+, Blow through maf 250+, piping is another 200+. Does this sound correct. What else am I missing?

My drive ability is actually awesome. It will never see the track, its simply a cruiser and in some cases a roller coaster. But I do want to get more power out of it as I realize heat soak killed me and my bypass valve sucked power as well, well more blew power past it HAHA. It was 85 that day with 80% humidity. Changing my bypass to a bosch 710s helped worlds!! Feels like a different car. IF I go after cooled or IC do I need to retune?

You could piece one together entirely from parts on Intercooler Pipe Fabrication if welding was out of the question. I used some of their bends to change up a generic gt kit to fit my car I just had everything welded at work vs running silicone couplers. cx racing also has a very good start to a kit although it is based off a gt so the throttle body fitmet would need to be modified. Your prices aren't to far off but you could cut it down a bit. I'm running a 50mm knock off bov with no issues which you can get off ebay for ~$50. There isn't a whole lot mechanically to go wrong with a bov and the tial knock offs will use replacements of the real thing most of the time if you needed parts for some reason. I've got a brand new pmas hpx sensor, factory ford harness, weld on flange and/or 3" tube with flange on the shelf I would sell as well if you end up gong that route.

One tip if you do end up trying to make/modify your own piping, a miter saw with a high tooth count, 80+, carbide tipped saw will cut the aluminum tubing beautifully.

What IC did you use?

I went pretty big with mine. I'm running a treadstone tr1245, fits like a glove on our cars

I would contact ProCharger and see if you can get a complete intercooler set-up.

procharger has a hefty price tag but they'll see it to ya, might try some of the supercharger accessory places.

You can also look at places like treadstone for IC piping

You can either buy a kit that was designed for your car, fits, and works, or you can cobble something together and hope for the best.

yup 3" in and out, I have 3" from the headunit to the throttle body. You do have to trim the bumper support to fit it but I retained mine. you could also go to a tubular support as another option. Ive got some pictures in my build thread on here. There's also a few other write ups on doing the same intercooler install on a sn95 platform.

Having had a meth only Vortech Car, I would NEVER, EVER go back to just meth after building an A2A setup. I don't see more than 10 degrees over ambient.. EVER.. Car doesn't heat soak, run warm, and is easier to tune with the Blow Thru and Slot meter.. Treadstone TR1245 is the best option for under 800 or so horse on these. Cheap. Effective. Add a tubular front bumper and weld on two tabs to hold the intercooler and you're set.
