Pierce Motorsports also makes a chassis brace for our cars, no idea what the quality is on them but they do have them in stock.

Are you still on the stock radiator? I replaced mine with a Mountune because I was constantly going into limp mode after doing full cobb stage 3 + stratified tune.

Also have you thought about trying to purchase a set of Recaros second hand? I hated them at first but once they break in to your body shape they are amazing. Best OEM seats I have ever owned.

The mountune brace is perfect. No need for anything else really. That with a TB traction bar has been great so far.

Stock radiator. Never had an issue on track, autocross, long trips, short trips, dogging it....etc. Car runs flawlessly and oil temps stick around 220*F and coolant temp is 198*F across the board. No clue why mine has been good but others have that many issues.

I tried to find Recaros multiple times. Just too costly for crap that people want to throw around saying they are "mint" when they arent. Also, due to the style of the Recaro its not very comfortable for me(5'11" 250ish lbs). Instead of spending north of $1000 i just had a reupholster company re-bolster my stock seats using Recaro dimensions(see photos above of added bolstering) but with better foam and using fabric padding instead of the plastic that Recaro uses inside the seat covers. Mine are wider at my thighs than the Recaros and a bit taller at the very end of the thigh bolster. A friend who has the Miata in a few posts above(silver NA Miata) sat in the newly bolstered seat and he had room to spare as he is also 50lbs lighter than me. I had to go sit in the seat as they were shaping it to fit my body.
So id love to have Recaro on my headrest but now my seat is custom bolstered for my body, with Recaro levels of grip and without having to worry about keeping them clean or wearing them out. 10/10 would do it again and will do it again here shortly on my passenger front seat so they match.

Another great day at the track! Summit Point - Jefferson Circuit for the Get Fast Events Summer Trackcross Series. So glad they decided to hold the event and every was very professional and safe when it came to the COVID-19 prep and implementation. They put on an incredible event and everything went extremely smooth within the scheduled time.

Now, onto how the car did....great! Placed 18/70 in the morning round and 23/67 in the afternoon round. If i didnt sign up for expo runs i would have placed 2nd in street FWD turbocharged(SF2) in the morning and 3rd in street FWD turbocharged(SF2) in the afternoon. I battled it out with a new body Civic Si most of the day. Fastest was a PTuning Scion XA that was turbocharged, HUGE wings and massive tires which is owned by a tech at PTuning. Thing was hooked all day long and made some serious power. He was 5+ seconds faster than everyone in class all day long.

The few little upgrades i did really helped, especially the seat. Once the belt is cinched tight with the CG Lock i no longer have to brace myself at every corner using my knees. This was a massive improvement for me and really helped me focus on not overdriving the car(i am very good at overdriving this car).

The Federal RS-Pro's worked out great. I did overheat them one run and by the end of the run i was .05 slower than i was the run before. I felt the front end just plow through turn 11 and it just understeered to the moon. I ran pressures at 39/36 to start, found they were a bit high, so lowered them on runs 2 through the end at 37/34 which felt nearly perfect with no rollover up front.

I also had my first oopsie where i shifted from 4th, thinking i was going to 3rd, and instead went to 5th. Car fell on its nose and i lost a significant amount of time. Killed what would have been my fastest afternoon run. Still ran a 70.3 which was quick for the day. This was the 2nd run of the afternoon round and car was hooked. I was kicking myself for not paying attention a bit more.

A few things i noticed, brakes are insanely good for stock pads, RBF600, stoptech lines, Boomba brake ducts and stock rotors. They grab extremely good from 100mph entering turn 11 to slow down enough to hit the apex and power through. Ford did a great job when they specified that compound for the Fiesta ST "performance pack" pads. Planning on hitting a track day in September so will update with some impressions on Stock "S" pads, Powerstop PST and maybe some EBC Yellows after a full day on track.

My CEL code for the air leak at throttle body(P2282) is gone and has not popped back up. That evap harness is the issue. One of the check valves must have been leaking causing the lean code after the throttle body as that is the only hose than connects at the intake manifold.

My biggest problem.....is well.....a mystery. During my afternoon runs, i found in the middle of a hard corner the air conditioning would turn on, go full blast and stay on until i hit the off button. It was annoying as hell. I only had one run where it didnt turn on. So something is funky with the A/C wiring or headunit. Might have to look into it if its still acting up at the next event.

A/C is still acting up. If in the off position and i smack anywhere in the center console the thing goes straight into full blast A/C mode.

So, i assume something is shorted somewhere. I guess ill start by replacing the A/C head unit and go from there. Expensive little part also, $457, but the Motorcraft remanned version is $220. Motorcraft part SP251.

Picked this up while looking for the A/C module. Got it on discount and quite happy at how it feels/looks.

3d printed with a magnet to hold the tray into the insert. Insert held in with 3m double sided bonding tape. Very nice and very smooth setup. The carbon option front is killer for the price.

Foglights have been deleted. They will be used for ducting later. For now though they will still feed air to the brakes/wheelwell through some slits that Ford conveniently placed in the fender liner(for brake cooling?).

Duct installed into existing opening.

You can see the "slits" already perforated in the fender liner which lead right into the wheel well area. These are more likely for pressure related issues than brake cooling.

After. Hole to nowhere.

Verus Engineering Hood louvers are finally installed. What a nightmare of an install.

First they give you a pretty shitty paper template which falls apart quite easily.

Second, the directions state one size for the studs and drill bit size then when fitting it’s the wrong size. Had to go up a size to get fitment on point.

Overall a PITA but they came out looking good and the rain guards look factory.

I have a Trackcross this weekend and we will see how well it cools the car off.

The hood louvers really look great, Kevin. That's a really smart cooling mod for the engine bay heat. Front view looks MEAN!

Much appreciated Bob. Verus Engineering makes some very nice products but i do wish they would keep the directions consistent with the installation requirements in the instructions.

Also replaced the HVAC head unit due to the “ghost” issue on track. Hopefully it cures the random coming on/off while on track.

Trackcross went EXCELLENT. Car was just flat on point the entire day. Get Fast Events held one of the best track events ive ever been to and there was so much track time. Only gripe of the day was my stupid fake go-pros started to act up on me.

Car placed 22nd out of 90. 2nd in SF2 class behind a Scion Xa that is turbocharged to the moon, caged and running some flared fenders w/ wide meat. Its probably double the power of my car with aero and all. Very very very fast car with an extremely competent driver.

Either way, i felt i did pretty well considering i have no camber adjustment, no added caster, 205's and spring/strut combo.

GFE had two courses going simultaneously with one being timed runs and the other being practice runs. Ended up being delayed on the timed course in the morning by a wreck so didnt get any video of the runs besides the first scouting run. In total, due to the battery in the Faux-Pro, i only got 15ish runs on video while we had more than 40+ on both courses throughout the day. As i said before, ALOT of track time and almost hot lapping it on the practice course.

Hood vents did great. Could see them bleeding heat just sitting there. No temps recorded during a run but car felt much cooler by touch and feeling the heat spewing out of the vents while waiting.

Brakes did great also. Stock "S" pads with the Boomba ducting worked very well. No mushy pedal, no heat spots and no fade through the entire day.

Here is one of the longer videos from Saturday. It has 2-3 laps of the longer Shenandoah practice course which included the "Karussel" turn which is my absolute favorite.

That patch of cement was bumpy as hell (4:34 mark). Nice driving!

That is the "Karussell" turn which is a copy of the two turns at the Nurburgring. Its quite the adventure and one of the most exciting corners at Shenandoah. Here is a cool little write up from Road and Track on how to take this type of corner.

How to Drive the Nurburgring's Most Famous Corner

Thanks for the praise on driving. Keep getting better as i go but still need more seat time and instruction. Can never get enough.
