Before i ask, i tried the search but it wasn't working for me. Basically my question is, does anyone have experience with the 2.65 tvs? I've looked all over and can't find much info or vids/graphs on it. I'm very interested in it, but want to be sure it's the direction i want to go.

I currently run a 2.4kb at 20ish lbs and am ready to upgrade to newer technology. Thanks for any help! And no, i don't want to drop 6k for the new 3.0 Whipple lol

I foresee a response along these lines coming: "Skip the 2.65. Get a used 2.9 Whipple with crusher inlet, beef up the fuel system for corn, spin her to 24lbs, and let her eat!"

Wait for it...lol

I forsee that as well lol. Car has the Fore L2 return system so not worried about that. I really am curious about this 2.65... for some reason it has my interest.

Good luck I have called VMP nothing. I have called local shops to find out anything about it nothing. YouTube nothing. Maybe the 2.65 don't have the steam as the 2.3 and no one is using it I'm ready for upgrade as well just not 6K worth

I thought there were a couple guys on here running it and were happy with it? One guy local to me has one, but he damaged his engine racing a couple months ago. I don't know where he's at with it now. He upgraded from the 2.3.

Lol. But.....removable inlet!

There's nothing wrong with the 2.65.....it just did not produce the TQ curve like the previous 2.3 (on a 100% factory terminator motor). It makes damn good top end HP. In fact, I've always said looking at the 2.65 dynos the HP curve looks like it would want to peak FAR past 7000rpm. Almost coyote in nature. If I was doing a 2.65 I'd want swap the cams and beef up the motor to rev to the moon.

OP, VMP is coming out with a new Terminator 2.65, I'd wait for it and see what it has to offer. If you're going to get a current 2.65 I'd find one ported, many of us 2.65 owners have hit high 700's on stock long blocks. The ported version should get you over 800rwhp which is 2.9L territory with a removable inlet. ;)

I do run a 5.0 stroker motor with stage 3 cams so i would plan on spinning it pretty decent. I talked to a guy at VMP a bit ago and he said they no longer stock the gen 3, and the gen 3r will be out soon. This has me very interested!

I'm guessing that special thing coming soon is the Gen 3R for the Terminator. This is coming from a comment reply to what I wrote on one of their recent videos and it looked like it was a few months out.

Streetcar Shenanigans on Youtube has an 03 Cobra with the basic bolt ons, Full exhaust with Cats, 93 Pump gas and the 2.6 VMP that they should be throwing on the dyno soon.

Its not a bad blower. I made 683whp on a 95 degree day with straight 93 and a stock longblock. 3.4 upper and stock lower produced 18lbs. What annoys me is I have a early gen1 of the 2.65. The later gens came ported. Little info on those.

Another local car on a stock longblock spun his to 29lbs on pump e85. No dyno numbers though. That car almost hit 800whp on 25lbs with it so I assume its past that.

All that being said, I am about to spin the shit out of mine. teksid block, custom 9:5-1 pistons (yes I know I can go higher on compression), molnar power adder rods, stage 4 modular head shop heads and stage 4 cams. I'll post what it makes when its all said and done. This virus crap put the build behind some .

Please report back. I want this to be a good blower, it's just hard to make a decision when there's little info out there and local shops say to stay away.

During today's burnout box episode with VMP I asked justin if he could tease any info on the Gen 3R. I asked the question at the 12:20 mark in the video. Not much go to on overall but I would not expect much to be said about it yet considering its not even revealed so I'll take anything we can get honestly.

Like with most big blowers it needs to be spun hard (big boost) otherwise they will make less torque and be less responsive than a smaller blower at lower boost. I have not yet seen anyone in the Terminator community with the balls to spin the Gen3 to max blower rpm and see what it can do. In Chevy world guys are making big power 1150whp+ with the 2.65. There's no reason a Gen3 setup shouldn't make good power. If you notice guys tend to push the smaller blowers to the max then run the big blowers (regardless of brand) soft on baby boost then cry and say it sucks.

I have had my VMP Gen3 2.65 on my cobra about a month. Right off the bat what I do not like about is it don't whine like my stock eaton w/ the 2.8 pulley did. Other than that I have no complaints. From my understanding VMP does not make the Gen3 for the 03/04 Cobras (thats what they told my mechanic) any more. My VMP has a 3.1 upper, the revised elbow, accufab throttle body, SCT 90 MAF and JLT RAI. I also had the 1000cc GT500 injectors (from VMP), head cooling mod, fuel pumps, billetflow idler bracker w/ 4 idler pulleys from Leathal, bassani mid-lengths headers installed. I also have an OR bassani X and borla stingers. Car was tuned by VMP and made 620 hp & 582 tq. I don't know if this is good or bad. I went from about 458 on the eaton to 620 w/ the VMP. Hope this helps

I also have a 2.8 upper pulley from VMP that I wanted to install but my mechanic said not to until I go E85. My car is a vert so I don't want to go too crazy but I want to get it in the 650/700 range before I move on to the next mustang. I am thinking about upgrading my throttle body to the GT500 (which is HUGE) but $800 is pricy. And from what I understand I would not need a new tune. Me wanting more HP IDK if upgrading is worth it or not.

So I can 100% Confirm that a new Gen 3R 2.65 VMP TVS is coming for the 03-04 Cobras. I have it pre-ordered. I was told that they are about 6-8 Weeks out. They are also doing a porting option for them as well if you decide to do it (Which I decided to go for)

But the build I’m going with is going to be pretty straightforward.

2.65 TVS Gen 3R. That is ported
3.1 Pulley
GT500 Throttle body and Elbow
E85
Full Race Ported heads (Done by me)
ARP head bolts & ARP Rod bolts

I’ll attach the order list from VMP below. If you have any questions let me know, but I’ve heard some pretty good things about this blower. As far as I know there isn’t a ton of information on it regarding the Terminators.

Dang it looks like I ordered my Gen3 a year early. Can’t wait to see what it does.
