Hello guys , so I am getting the check charging system warning after I did a K-,member swap , wen I first started the car after the k-member swap I smelled like a burning cable which i have not seen any burn cable .I check my battery and alternator and both of them are good.I have ZERO idea at this point of what it could be . Please if you guys have any idea of what it could be I'll appreciate it the help.

It sounds like you have a short somewhere. Check the fuses on the main positive cable, there should be two of them if I remember correctly. Is the alternator charging? I suspect you popped a fuse somewhere, once you find that tell us what it is and we can help you narrow it down. Get under the car and look at any wires and hernesses that could of been pinched.

I checked all the fuses and non were pop . The car turns on and runs on battery power but if I disconnect the negative it dies like the alternator is not powering anything. I didnt think it would be the big fuse on the battery cause if it goes out the car wouldn't start right? I got under the car stripped the harness that goes to the power rack and alternator and everything seems fine . I also lost power steering , I am guessing from the alternator but charging ?

If you lost power steering I guarantee you popped one of the fuses on the positive. I grounded out my positive terminal while changing plugs and I popped one of them, as soon as I started it the car I had no power steering. I don't know what the second fuse covers but go look and see if they are good. You should be able to pull it off with a couple of bolts. Bad news is if you popped them it's a Ford part. Once off you can visually see if it's blown or not.

However, you still need to figure out why they are popping if I s blown. If you smelt a burnt electrical smell you definitely shorted something.

The only electrical connection I can think of you may have messed with is the power steering connector, you said you checked that. I'm going to go back to battery, did you disconnect for install, if so CHECK THAT FUSE.

Don't just look at wires on power steering, check starter, alternator, basically any harness you can get to under the car. Did the engine shift while you were putting k member? Maybe you pinched something on top of motor? As said above start with basics and go from there.

Not out of the woods yet brother. You need to find out why it blew, they just don't pop for no reason. If you smelled something burning, you need to find out what it was. Look real hard before you swap the fuse, chances are it's going to blow again unless you find the shorted wire.
