We have protest scheduled for the neighborhood tonight. I support the right of anyone to peacefully protest, but if it turns ugly the entire neighbor has combat training and is prepared for the boogaloo. It would an error in judgement to bring the fight here.

M855 green tip hits hard, probably the hardest for mass produced ammo that's readily available on the market. There are probably other special rounds out there that can perform better, but I have seen green tip penetrate and damage AR500 steel targets that regular 5.56 couldn't damage at all.

LOL destroying steel is reason I would NOT want green tip. Range I am at has steel silhouettes and you cannot use green tip.

Some old Ruger mini 14's were only rated for .223 and are stamped ".223 only"

FYI, ALL minus the 2007 introduction of the Target series have been able to fire 5.56 from day one which is all the way back to the original 180 series. I’ve got a 181 stamped with a .223 barrel and even the manual states it’s perfectly fine and I’ve been shooting mine for over 30 years with 5.56 (think it’s a ‘79 model).

They continued for some years to use .223 stamped barrels even in the newer series is memory serves. I’m not sure how that all started honestly, as I’ve heard it since at least the early 90’s long before the Target came about.

IMI over Lake City any day and twice on Sunday.

After that I’ll take Geco (was German but now made by the Swiss I think) and then Lake City followed by Prvi for SHTF ammo.

All will do but I’ve been able to find IMI cheaper as well than LC. Last case I bought was $279 per 1200.

Where are you finding $279 for 1200? SG is $209 for 500.

Bought 3 cases last year. I don’t buy often because I reload now. Just need new brass so it was time. That was actually off Cheaper Than Dirt though. Also got a good deal on Geco from Lax Ammo.

Looks like a great spread I may check it out someday, I need to find a new outdoor range now lol. Time to knock the dust off my Strelok+.

I've always found it ideal because everything at close range is point of aim point of impact until you get to 15yds and in and from there you start to utilize compensating points of aim on the body to hit your intended zone of the body. At 15yds if you want to hit middle of the T box then you aim eyebrows, 10yds top of forehead, 5yds and in top of head, etc. When you have those points of aiming reference you can acquire your target much quicker and you will hit those intended zones with better accuracy. 15 and in with that zero is some of the easiest shooting.

I shoot M193 (55 gr FMJ 556) most of the time at the range, especially when shooting <500 meters. I shoot MK262 (77 gr OTM 556) for >500 meters and for HD duty.
