I recently made a post asking why I’ve been reading that MAC Longtubes damaged some engines by letting slag go into the engine and i want to thank you for helping me understand this. Anyway , today i received my new MAC Longtubes and i have a question , the ones i got today have one single flange but other pics i see of the MAC’s they have a flange for each primary? . So now I’m paranoid that i have an older set that will damage my new rebuilt motor or something. Can someone give me some info on this?

Can you post pics?

IIRC once the headers were ran they were ok. They were "cleaned out". I know some guys would drive for a bit with the EGR disconnected to clear anything out.

One flange, as in at the head? That would be preferred as opposed to individual tubes. But I'm confused on what you're worried about happening??

Apparently MAC headers ruined engines years back back due to slag letting go and getting into the engine . But that was the old headers i guess

Your headers are fine. A single flange verses separated flanges for each primary is preferred. The picture you looked at on their site may not have been the exact headers for your car or they may have been an old file picture. If your worried about slag take a rubber mallet and tap around on the headers where welded and down each primary tube and blow them out with compressed air.
FYI, a single flange per side lets them mill the face flat and will seal up better than the individual flanges that can be easily warped by tightening them to much. It also puts a more even pressure across the gasket to help prevent exhaust leaks. Although it wouldn't hurt to lay a flat edge across the face of the flange and make sure it's perfectly flat from one end to the other and from top to bottom.

Luckily you’ve come to the right place. I’ve asked a ton of questions here (some stupid) and always find an answer.
