Sure enough the blower is seized. Not ideal but definitely the best case in this situation... pretty sure I kept the rotors drill fragment free. I was running way too much belt tension and a larger pulley for a long time and only recently fixed it. And I bought it used, so it’s time had come I guess.

Now I need a blower...

Was considering a whipple 2.9 recently (long term) but based on what I’ve read the EGR is difficult to keep and I’d have to redo the fuel rail crossover I just finished. Apparently you have to run 180* AN fittings at the rear of both rails and somehow route the crossover up front? That can’t look good. Also can’t confirm my VMP 67mm TB and 123mm JLT will work with a whipple, adding to the cost.

Guess I’m in the market for a new 2R... hopefully it’ll fare better than this one.

If the blower case isn't hosed, I bet you can rebuild your blower. Something to look into anyway as a possible cost savings alternative. Also, if you can get your hands on a bore scope, I would check the intake runners and cylinders for any debris just for peace of mind.

Edit: After thinking about it, I don't think you can get to the intake runners without removing the whole intake which I understand is a PIA.

Does anyone know an outfit that does a rebuild service? The problem with a rebuild is it’s my daily. I can borrow the wife’s car short term but with 2 kids it’s not ideal for more than a week or so.

VMP suggested Jokerz Performance to do them. Not sure of turn around, but I would guess its gonna be atleast a few weeks.

Thanks for the info everyone. At least I can recoup some of the loss by having it rebuilt and then selling it. Original Gen 2’s seem to be bringing $2k+ still I think. Hopefully a full rebuild is <$1000.

If the rotors aren't jacked up, I think the bearings and seals are like a $300-400 deal to rebuild from Jokerz offhand. Its not all that much as long as no rotor damage

I'd pull the rotor pack out of the case and have a look. If the rotors are jacked up or the case is all scarred up, it probably isn't worth investing any money in it. Can you turn it counter clockwise?

I know the blower oil is supposed to be "lifetime" or some crazy amount. But I did a refill on mine at about 30k and that stuff was nearly black. So I'll be doing that as routine maintenance. I don't know if that would have helped your issue, but maybe.

Although still a sizeable issue on the blower, I'll take that all day long compared to an engine replacement.

I realize your approaching your next steps strictly from a budget stand point but wanted to clear up fuel crossover hose. I've got an '07 and there aren't any clearance issues, the closest point is about an 1/8", although I had to remove the hood liner for clearance.

I don't quite understand your comment on the EGR?

Regardless of which way you go I'd be one happy camper knowing my engine wasn't affected.

Best of luck!

A Whipple 2.9 will accept your VMP 67mm TB and 123mm JLT CAI. Your aftermarket fuel rails and rear crossover will not work with the EGR valve installed. If you are seriously considering a Whipple, this Gen 2 with 07-10 mounting hardware might be for sale, 650-680 RWHP with your current mods.

Here is the area in question. He has aftermarket fuel rails with a rear crossover, no chance it would fit.

No way

Used Gen2r market is around $1800-$2000 if you can find one. They are also being phased out

I'm a KB guy, but ^^^^That looks Nice!^^^^. I believe Shelby used that blower on the Whipple optioned 750hp Super Snakes.
