We don't add it, but it is mixed in at our local Southern States fueling station during the winter months. We are sold on it. Here's a vid the wife did.

a bunch of my trucks puff brown smoke when the DEF system is doing a burn off or regen

That’s interesting. HPR burns brown as it has animal fats and other green waste vs fossil fuel. I haven’t owned a truck new enough to have a DPF. My friends ‘17 6.7 smells like burning sage brush when it’s regenning.

I used to add a lubricant every few tanks on my 6.4 but have never added anything in my 6.7. I probably should though

Here in Ca we have a bio fuel they call HPR and it’s supposed to have a higher cetane content than #2 and better lubricity. My 6.0 likes it, my old 7-3 loved it. It idles quieter, gets to speed a little easier then also it doesn’t smoke much if at all. On my 7-3 with a hot tune it would barely puff out some smoke then clear up at full boost. Weird part was the smoke was brownish. My 6.0 isn’t bullet proofed yet so no tune or extra boost yet.

Some of the trucker stops on I5 and 99 only sell bio diesel. Seems to be pretty popular truck stops too.

I’ve never tried bio .... gonna have to now based on what you said!

I try to run 10oz of Power Service every tank to keep the injection pump lubed on my Cummins....Don’t really care if the injectors wear out as they’re cheap and easy to swap.

I was in need of fuel off the 5 one time somewhere between Sacramento and Bakersfield, like the Los Banos area and I filled up on that bio fuel they offered. Truck seemed to like it as I was coming off of #2 on a road trip and it had the characteristics of the HPR fuel. Talked to another PSD owner there filling up on it and he swore by that particular bio diesel. There’s a propel near my house so it’s all I run in my truck. I actually dread going back to #2 now.

Propel sells it and I think the closest one to you is probably off of the 10 and vineyard. There is also one off the 210 in Claremont if you’re in that area. Definitely try it out and let me know if you had the same experience as I did, very interested in your results. That Cummins of yours can probably burn used unfiltered motor oil and not complain, .

It's a 1995 Stewart & Stevenson built in Texas 3116 catapiller with 7 speed allison auto. Uncle Sam's idea of a pick up for the army. I swapped the diffs out, it rolls down the road at 65 tops. It's my company's support vehicle. Two generators, air compressor, tools, water tank and pump. It's a blast off road.

Here it is at the tractor pulls second truck in the video.

Holy crap need details on that unimog looking think! Bad ass!

I run Howe's or Power Service, mostly for the anti-gel properties in the winter, but lower doses in the summer. I tend to stay away from biodiesel as that requires more in the way of filtration; more capacity and more heating provisions.
