I started with a stock radiator and 2 B&M transcoolers mounted to the front of it. Had zero issues with engine cooling or trans cooling. Ended up upgrading to a larger fluidyne radiator with a smaller B&M transcoolers mounted on the front with a second transcooler in series remote mounted with its own temp controlled fan on it. Also zero issues with cooling of either the engine or trans. Only changed things because I was upgrading things in the power department and wanted to uncover the radiator more than what I had.

Ken

EDIT: That was running a 4r70w with OD and Lock up with a full manual VB and a 4000 stall convertor and a transbrake.

I run a single BM cooler. If you click on my build thread, the last posts I made will show you where it's mounted

Thats good to know. So sticking with the oem and with a b&m cooler works? Sounds easy enough.

I have the same BM cooler I run for sale with lines if you're interested. Click on my instagram and scroll until you find it.
Not yet ready for the cooler. Still putting work in a few areas first. If ya have it in the future I will be on it.

I’m not sure they make a lock-up converter for a th400. Maybe they do but I’ve never heard of it.
Basically if you want that you need to look at doing a 4L80E, which is pretty much a th400 with lock-up and OD.

They make a lock up converter for th400, but they are very expensive and require changes to the trans for it all to work. Not something the average guy needs to worry about.

After looking at pricing looks like I will stick with keeping completely ford. 6r80 is gonna be what I am gonna do. With 3:73 out back I think it will don the trick for both track and street duty.
