Now, depending on how you're going to use it... For me, my 7" HDMI screen is only 1080, so the Garmin is 60fps for that.

I have a few of my Fiesta on track with the el-cheapo versions and they work great? Only gripe is the microphone is garbage and the light sensitivity can be a pain to dial in.
Other than that, i spent $75 on the Action Camera 1080p and $50 on the 4k version on sale through Amazon. Bought them cheap as i planned on using them outside the car so if they fell off it was no loss if they broke.

On my older 1080p model is not bad. The newer 4k version is excellent for as cheap as it is. I dont record in 4k though so both are videoed in 1080p and once ISO is setup for the conditions they look just as good as a Go Pro(model specs to model specs). Setting the ISO can be a pain though. I usually spend 10 minutes screwing with them before mounting them in/on the car and occasionally it still looks off. Also the microphone flat sucks but so does a $400 Go Pro without the add on mic.

That Elite model looks enticing. 4k 60fps for $139 is a total steal.
I ordered the GoPro 7, mainly because the lens cover is replaceable where its not on the 8. I you mess up the lens cover on the 8 it's toast.
@SID297 How do you like the 8? I need a new camera for Raptor offroading and the stabilization looks incredible. Im about to pull the trigger on the Hero 8 Black but wondering if its the right time. Cheapest its ever been but they usually release a new model in October. The LED light and flip screen mods they are adding to the 8 are very interesting. Almost like the company is pivoting to a new market. Their stock price is near an all time low too. I wonder if they make a new camera this year.

The 8 is great. Stabilization is one of the best features.
