Thanks in advance for reading. I was wondering if the 3.0 is worth the extra money over the Gen 4 2.9? My goal is 840-860 @ the wheels on E85. Is that acheiveable? Already have all the supporting mods just rather save a good amount of coin if the 2.9 can do it. I currently have a 2.3 TVS and is awesome but it is on the small side and is working hard I'm sure on the top of the boost.

Thanks for the responses

Are you talking gen 4 2.9 crusher? If so I dont think they make that new anymore. So you'd have to buy used. The 3.0 is only crusher I believe. If you go with the standard inlet gen4 on e85 and your stock motor without cams I dont think you'll be able to hit your target. Maybe other who have can chime in.

I agree.. I shouldn't be spending the money anyways but with the deals right now it is super tempting lol. I'm sure the 2.9 Crusher would achieve mid 800s but would the non-crusher be able too? Hmmm

Every car is a little different, the non crusher may hit very low 800 range but most likely high 700,s. Not positive but the crusher MAY hit your factory hood, but then again, not for sure.

Thanks for the input. From my understanding I thought it was just the 3.4 & 4.0 that hit hood with factory suspension. I have MM K-member so not sure if my engine is lower than stock. Only worth the upgrade if I can hit mid 800s. A lot of dough for 100 hp lol.

The only gen4 std inlet that was pullied past 20psi that I've seen posted here was BlkBox04s. It was pullied to 24psi on c16 and wasn't close to the zip code of 800. He was trapping mid 130s. I suggested to him to get it on E85 and try again....but 800 seems like a stretch. If there are other gen4 std inlet numbers out there, post them up.

From what I've seen...you need the crusher on the gen4 to get low 800s (several have reached this level). However....I don't see a stock cam, stock compression 03/04 motor doing 850 with the 2.9, I think if you want 850 it's going to take the 3.0 and everyone is anxious to see results.

Maybe that's who I was thinking of. I'm at 617rwhp at 18psi and 12 degrees of timing. Once I get my garage back I can finish the last couple things to run E85.

I don't know enough to guesstimate on power. My goal was 700ish on E85 and don't think I'll have a problem hitting it.

You won't have any issue hitting 700.

I'm just surprised at how much the crusher is worth on the gen4. Before these were released.....I would have guessed much smaller differences between the std vs crusher inlet. It's obvious the gen4 and gen5 rotor profiles LOVE more inlet air. I don't believe the gen2 rotor profiles were anywhere near these differences std vs crusher.

I been running Whipple gen2 2.9 standard inlet since 2013. My car is on pump E85, making SAE 830rwhp and 740rwtq on 23lbs. Been at that power level for the last 7 years. Took it to the track, 3 years ago ran 10.4@140mph on 86 degree day with 1500da. I need to work on my sixty foot. best I can cut was 1.7 60'. Due to spring rate on the MM coilovers, #350lbs in the front and #575lbs in rear and sports valved Bilsteins.
