Sold my 2012 Yellow Blaze Boss 302 and bought a 2013 GT500. It has 10,500km (approx. 6500miles). Black with Colorado Red stripes, black and red Recaros, Electronics Package, Shaker, Car Cover, SVT Performance Package. Looks very sharp but remembering pains of being a black car owner once again LOL. Definitely much different power than the Boss and not a fan of the stock Goodyears. Looking to change them out with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Thinking of upsizing to the 295's but quite a price difference from the 285's

Congrats on the upgrade and welcome to the club!

Do yourself a favor and replace the GY hockey pucks ASAP! You'll be much happier and able to enjoy the car more with better tires. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S are a good choice, as are Michelin Pilot A/S 3+, which might let you enjoy a little longer driving season at your nothern latitude.

Congrats on the car. You will love it. Not sure you will be able to find the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S easily. I couldn't find any here last year and ended up going with Nitto's.

I hope it make a difference, first drive I went on it was hard not to spin the tires in the stock GY’s. I will look into the A/S 3+ tires, it might be a good choice up here. On the fence if the 295’s are worth the added cost, Is there significant improvement by going to 295’s as well?

How do you like the Nitto’s? If I can’t find any locally I will try PMC Tire online, have used them a couple times with success, their prices are competitive too.

Congrats on the shelby. I've recently sold my 12 boss as well. Have been on the shelby fence for a minute. How are your driving impressions of the shelby vs the boss?

The power difference is night and day. With the Boss I felt in total control. The Shelby is a different beast and you must respect the power under foot. But i am liking it more and more each time I drive it. I think different tires will make a huge difference too in gaining better traction and feeling the acceleration and not just spinning tires.

Migrating to either Michelin choice will be a significant upgrade over the GYs - it will definitely make a big difference.

I moved to a 275/295 combo when I shifted to Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires a couple of years ago. While better than the OEM 265/285 combo, I didn't find the inprovement to be significant. Obviously, YMMV.

Congratulations on landing your GT-500. The power increase is noticeable, of course. Both it and the Boss are nice Mustangs. Enjoy it!

Welcome!
Yes, you’ve identified the first essential change to make in swapping tires.
Tires are about the most important choice you can make, so how do you plan to use the car?
Also, if you find the clutch non-linear, there’s a clutch assist spring that’s a free upgrade by removing it.
Great color combo.

Good choice and welcome. Get rid of those GY slicks like everyone says and you'll love the car even more. It was the first change on my 13 GT500 and then I couldn't stop from there. New cold air intake and a new throttle body will help as well. When you have nothing better to do with $3,000 you can be over 800 hp as well !! LOL

Congrats on the upgrade.
Had an 11, black with Colorado Red stripes, like having a 2nd job keeping it clean.
I wish the red stripes on my 14 were Colorado Red, they would be easier to color match..

Nitto's seem to be pretty good. Hold traction way better than the Goodyear's but I haven't used it much since getting them.

Congrats on the Shelby! Sorry you had to give up the Boss though. I have a 2013 GB Boss that I hope to never give up and plan on adding a Shelby GT350R or GT500 sometime in the near future. Have never driven a Shelby but looking forward to the day!
