Surely it won’t make more than 907rwhp right?!
For the sake of the stock block, I hope not!
Actually it could make that on the Dyno but I wouldn’t trust it at that level long term.
But in that light chassis, 800rwhp and turbo torque will be an amazing street combo.
Give it hell Joe.

Do you mean the internals or the actual block? Thought the blocks were solid.

Considering coyote swapping my cobra.

Both.
I don’t want to overstep on Joe here but I think it’s a new Gen 2 crate motor (‘15-17 Mustang GTs) and they’re very good from factory to about 800rwhp

It’s a forged internal gen 1 Ford Racing aluminator SC motor. It’ll handle 1000 safely. As for what it will make, it could be anywhere from 800-1000. Depends on how hard we decide to lean on it. I think with the automatic in the car the turbo would be close to maxed out by the time we hit 4 digits to the tire. I’m less concerned with a big number here. I want the car to be drivably...fast. But yes, in a sub-3000lb car, 800+ is a deep 8 second car as it is

Sorry guys, I was just being funny. I thought it would surely out produce the Saleen he built which made 907rwhp, but I know next to nothing about coyotes.

The power to weight ratio of this thing is nuts. Are you going to set up the Holley for traction control so it can adjust boost based on tire spin and RPMs? I think that is a really cool feature on the unprepped street.

Your car (the Saleen) made freak power for what it is. The coyotes do love boost but J is right in the sense that the modulsr aluminum blocks are proven stronger. traction control with the Holley requires the dominator. With that said I absolutely plan to put a Davis traction control unit on the car this coming offseason. It will need it
Any chance we'll see this prowling the streets at Woodword Dream Cruise this year?

Depends on the turbo selection on that Coyote which i have missed.

You might still hold the record :)

Even better.
Still we split the block on the same setup.
The rotator will be fine for a thousand wheel but the block would scare me above 800rwhp if you’ll actually use it, and I think you will.
Unless things change around here, me a few of the bigger dogs around here will start coming up to the Woodward scene.
Can’t wait to hear how tomorrow goes bro, if I don’t have to work I’d come up.

This is truly a difficult post to make but it needs to be made nonetheless. Hopefully those of you that have interacted with me personally, know I try my best to be a humble guy. That means accepting the ugly just as graciously as all the praise you guys offer up (so much appreciation for that btw!). Today was supposed to be an incredibly exciting one. The dyno was scheduled for tomorrow so we were going over finishing touches to prepare. Heck, I was even giving the car a little polish so it looked good in the videos. Well, something took a very tough turn.

The Holley was showing zero oil pressure when the car idled for about 120 seconds at 900 rpm. Mark and I thought it had to be a sensor or a simple wiring/continuity issue. Turned out to be that the Holley was reading correctly, somehow the motor never had oil pressure (the motor had been run before and had oil pressure prior to us swapping the pump gears and pan so we never once thought it was possible that the gauge was correct). Long story short, the engine locked. We still have no idea why. The oil lines weren’t crossed, the gears were installed correctly, the clearance from pickup to pan was correct. Motor never made a peep. We just don’t know. What we do know is, a massive amount of time, work and money invested in a new longblock is gone. The motor has to come back out. The extent of the damage is unknown. Bearings are certainly in order but beyond that it could be mild or incredibly devastating.

All of that said to say this, I’m very VERY heartbroken. I wish I had someone to blame for this but it’s clearly something we overlooked and when that happens you have to man up and accept it.

Being a vet, on Memorial Day, as much as I want to sulk....it’s just money. It’s just a car. It’s just material possessions. It’s all replaceable. In mechanics, things fail. Sometimes due to part, sometimes due to the mechanic themselves. I refuse to be broken by something so trivial when families and individuals are suffering in real ways. That doesn’t mean I can’t be truly bummed right now, and I am.

So, I’m not quitting on this. My twin would ask me “what else can you do accept pull it back apart and do it again? Get to work”. So that’s what I’m going to do

Sorry guys

I’m sorry to hear about the motor, buddy. I admire your will and your perseverance to see this project through. Here’s hoping that the fix will be minimal.

Please don’t apologize, you’ve given us this amazing build and let us be apart of it. So we will get through this together and push on!
