Great pic out at Cabazon with the dino's. My kids love that place.

that was after a day of jeeping out in mountains by Calico and idk even know where else lol. huge jeep day. like 500 jeeps. took me like 3 hours to get there! i wish i could live out by where you live. all those trails are such a big drive for me and of course they always start like at 8 or 9am lol.

i really like those wheels BUT two issues. they weigh a ton and ive seen people have issues with the bolts rusting. the rust isnt an issue where im at but the weight. theyre like 30lbs or more. my wheels weigh 23lbs! lol. seems like most jeep guys do not care about the weight of the wheels at all.
and then people go and add a 75lb or 100lb tire to the wheel...

your jeep looks sick though!

Honestly, I spend a lot of time in the mud, and I am sick of having the clean wheel spokes. If I can just spray the inboard and outboard side of the wheels and call it a day, then they can weigh 40 lbs each.

Yeah youre pretty far out for the good desert trails.

I grew up out by Joshua Tree/29 Palms.

There are soooooooooooooooooooo many awesome trails out there you can off road for a month straight and not hit the same trail twice.

I still have family out there so when you are ready to hit some good desert stuff, just let me know. There is everything from sand dunes, to rocks, to dry lake beds and everything in between.

I am usually in the RZR, but if i buy a Jeep, ill have to bring out both hahaha

Above, I just checked my spec sheet from Black Rhino. The Armory wheel in a 17x9.5 is only 22lbs. The 20" wheel is 31lbs. I am sticking with the 17 in any case. I wish I could fit a 16 over the Rubicons larger brakes.

thats got to be a massive misprint lol. people have stated they weight in the 30s. even on quadratecs website they state 39lbs which i would believe just looking at it.

people were practically in shock when i posted up how much my wheels weigh. its practically unheard of but they are flow formed and not cast like pretty much every single jeep wheel out there.

i aint got no Methods lol. theyre way overpriced imo. the Edge wheels i had were forgestar offroad wheels that i picked up in that big sale. sold the last set about a month ago. these Edge wheels are lighter, stronger and way cheaper than Method. and not every jeep you see every 5 minutes in so cal has them lol. theyre sold under Weld Racing now.

buy my Sport so i can convince the wife to let me get a rubicon! lol. the prices keep going up on them. the 8spd auto trans was like $1700 when i bought mine, maybe $2k. now its $2,750! but its a must have imo. let me know when youre ready. theres a dealer that gives great discounts on new jeeps (fleet manager).

How can you tell they are stronger? I have yet to see any wheel running on off road race on rim for miles on end, except Method. How Subaru WRX STI went 14 miles on a rim alone to win rally stage | Torque News

How much are Forgestar wheels? The cheapest I could find is $259 for D5. Method DS starts at $188 and their 18x9 wheel is now $238. While not the cheapest, they are very competitive to the other off road wheels on the market from what I have seen.

well just comparing rotary forged vs cast. there's different methods of wheel casting. i see that they make cast, rotary forged and forged wheels. i wasnt aware of that. im sure the race vehicles are running forged wheels. the bargain basement method wheels are obviously going to be the cast version.

the edge wheels were about $188 through Xtreme Terrain. now that they are under Weld Racing they have added some features and it seems the price may have went up some. im not saying Method are bad. i may have been thinking of AEV wheels which are like the holy grail of jeep wheels for some reason.

I think you are correct. I just found where they quoted a lower weight to another rep as well. They are off by about 10lbs. I like the looks, but I will continue to research to see if they have fixed some of their other issues.

Thanks!

i really like them and was considering buying them. they give the vehicle a humvee/military look. ive seen a gobi gladiator on those in black. a truly drool worthy rig.

i really like the Dirty Life wheels too but i saw some people had some issues with those as well, and theyre heavy.

im looking at that wheel on fuel's website. say its 17x10, not 9. a little wide but should work. i think it might need a wider 33" tire but not sure. i would try to go with a more narrow wheel. that wheel has a 4.75" backspacing. the wheels i posted have 4.5". so that wheel will sit out .5" more than the wheels on the jeeps i posted. that's quite a bit.

Steve, do you have a link to your Jeep's wheels? I'm having trouble finding them. I want to check them out as well.
