Bmxr, only sure fire way is to use the Chris salmon kit. It drops the caliper down and allows the pad to cover the disc face with just a tiny amount of over hang. If you only oblong the bolt holes on spindle, you will have to grind the pads.

Does anyone have a rebuild part number for the arts v Brembo calipers? I ripped one of the inside seals while trying to take them apart to have them powder coated. Also is there a how to take them apart and assemble thread? Thanks in advanced.

Did you ever get the dust boot replaced? I just recently purchased a set for my '91 LX and wanted to get them powder coated as well like you were doing and like you as well I ripped the dust boot and can’t t seem to figure out how to get them out. I don't want to scratch up the inside of the bore trying to dig it out and you're the first person I've seen in all my google searches that has had to deal with a similar issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The dust boots sit in 2 grooves. On one the piston and one in the bore. You need to use compressed air in the fluid feed port and a block of wood to force the pistons out. That will allow you to pull the boots off and remove the pistons. The dust boots are very hard to get out if you don't extend the pistons. The boots are also a very tight fit.

It actually looks a LOT bigger in person than the pictures can convey. It makes the factory Cobra brakes seem puny.

Yup. In person I think I muttered to myself "Wow...that's a big brake setup".

Wrapped up my ATS to XTS swap. I added a pic of the area that needs to be filed down for caliper to spindle clearance. I used the OEM brembo pads. So far so good. I haven’t really gotten on it as I want to bed the pad in properly.

Just ordered my $199.99 ATS caliper set off ebay & the S&S engineering install kit.
Install kit is 4 weeks out. I will add pics once I get these installed.

Does the GT500 rotor have the same hat height as the 99-04 Cobra rotor?

Pistons are out. That was the easy part. Physically getting the dust boots out is what I was referring to. Is the ring behind the dust boot pressed in? I just can’t seem to figure out how to get them out. Definitely like nothing I’ve worked on before.

OMJ, hat height is the same. What is different is the thicker rotor. It fits right on the money with lowranger's kit. All that is needed is to file the small part as i noted

Never mind. I figured it out. It’s actually not all that bad after you know what to do. I pulled out the replacement boots to look how they could be installed and it was just a matter of using a small screwdriver to lift it out from the outside edge. I’m happy again. Hope this helps anyone looking to do the same thing.

Has anyone split their Brembos apart for paint/powdercoat?

IIRC, Brembo has stated to not split the calipers as the bolts that hold them together are one-time use only and not obtainable outside of Brembo. However, I've seen plenty of threads where guys disassembly them completely and paint/powdercoat them.

Pedal Ratios

I'm trying to do some calculations on MC bore diameter and what is ideal and need some info on pedal ratio.

The Fox/early SN95 cars use a 13" long brake pedal (pad to pivot) with 3.5" from pivot to booster rod point. That's a 3.7 pedal ratio.

Does anyone have a hydroboost pedal assembly out and can measure the brake pedal length (center of pad to pivot) and lenght of pivot to booster rod attachment?

What rear brakes are you using? How's much has the pedal feel changed?

Omg, stock brakes in rear for now. I’m thinking 13 inch rotor conversion in the rear with Taurus caliper.

pedal is a touch softer than factory. You get used to it really quick though.

I should be going to the junkyard this weekend if I remember and have time I'll rip one out of a car and measure it

Is the banjo bolt on the new edge GT the same as the one needed for the ATS?

I’m going to install today but just realized I don’t know for sure and don’t want to be stuck in the middle of the install.

Searched the thread but didn’t find an answer.

Maybe this info can get added to the summary on post #1 and #2 (thanks GodStang).

So I had the ATS calipers machined. .075 off mounting area. Cost 150 bucks at the shop. Did I get ripped off? Guy said it took 2 hours. Not really sure what this should run.
