Changing out header gaskets, buttoning everything back up now. Hopefully off to exhaust fab shop to replace gutted cats with resonators then alignment tomorrow.

It’s been a while but finally got it all put together. Started the tuning process.

Installed new rotors/pads and stainless brake hoses.

Also found this gem! Anyone who purchases the Russells stainless brake hose kit needs to know that the banjo bolt crush washers that come with the kit are too thin for the front caliper. I found out the hard way and ended up using the old washers up front. The thin washer on the banjo pushed the caliper piston out slightly and with new rotors/pads, caused the fronts to lock up. I was at my wits end with this and was almost ready to mill down the pads before I found this. Kit is nice but R&D fail.

XTS/gt500 swap.
Nice brake swap. How much better is the braking?

Your sweet beast is coming along nicely. Post up how you like the new sound with the resonators.

Hope you're happy after the tuning. The new rotors and pads look good. Sucks that you had to struggle a bit due to the thin washers, BUT, you did figure it out.

Thanks Bob. Years of playing with brakes and still learning. Hopefully I'll be happy when said and done. The rain isn't helping with getting out to data-log but the fields definitely needed it.

CobraBob, so far so good. I previously was running ATS calipers with stock cobra rotors. I went with the larger XTS/gt500 as it fills in my wheel better and also the gt500 rotor is thicker.

I haven’t really gotten on it as I just finished the swap and wanted to take it easy on the brakes for a few miles. I’ll report back soon as I’m planning a canyon trip to Mexico.

I'm guessing the difference between the standard and premium versions is that the standard is geared more for drag strip and reducing weight and the premium is more for handling and stiffening up the front suspension to reduce flex in the front end?

When they were first released I contacted BMR and was told the standard would be fine for a street car like mine. The premium would be for a more track oriented car. But I didn't like how the control arms mount on the standard version.

If track was my main concern I'd stay with the MM unit. The change in wheel base and track width is noticable behind the wheel. But I'm just a canyon carver so I want my front wheels back inside the fender. And everytime I get under the car the oil filter adapter is damp. It annoys the crap out of me.

Put 500+ km (300 miles) on the old girl today to join a local car club on a rolling car show. We travelled through some small towns along the way, waving at resident and revving the engines for the kids standing in their front yards. The tour ended at 15 Wing Canadian Forces Base Moose Jaw, home of the Snowbirds, to honor Captain Jennifer Casey who died last week in the plane crash in British Columbia. I was travelling solo so I don't have many pictures enroute (plus we couldn't really stop anywhere) but it was fun just to drop the top and hit the open road!

That rolling car show must have been a blast.

I read that story about the Snow Birds crash. Very sad! Nice that the pilot was honored that way.
