Switching out my '13 GMC 1500 for something else...

I am looking to get rid of my '13 GMC 1500 SLT Crew Cab. It only has 34k miles on it and is in really good shape. It could use a good detail and it would basically be brand new. I am looking to get out of it for a few reasons but mainly because it is not comfortable. The seat doesn't work for me. I'm 6' tall so everything should be fine but I cannot get a good position. I have a sore back in less than 20 miles. The color isn't my favorite (burgandy/tan interior). It doesn't have adjustable trailer brake control. It doesn't have Nav/backup camera. I know the last few are minor issues, but they irritate me a little none the less.

Now, this is where I'm questioning the logic of it. I can switch it out for a fully loaded 2013-2015 Ram or Ford but it would have substantially more miles: 75k-100k. It would have all the things I want but the idea of trading in my "new" truck for a "used" truck doesn't seem wise to me. I wouldn't know the maintenance history on it either. I wouldn't know if it was a decent truck or a pos. Now I don't put many miles on my vehicle - less than 5k a year - so it will still last me a long time. I would also get a vehicle that is from the south. My truck has seen 7 years of salt already and getting another one out of the rust belt would be another bonus in making it last longer.

I really don't want to put in a whole lot of cash to switch vehicles but maybe it is the only way I should consider doing it in getting one with less miles.

Completely stupid or worth considering?

Thanks!

SLT has lumbar support? It can be added easily.

Trailer brake controller and NAV with rear view camera could be added easily.

Would not trade into a high miler.

It does have lumbar support. I don't know what is wrong with it/why I can't get it right. I've tried all kinds of settings on it but none of them are comfortable. I have two preset saved that I rotate between to keep the back manageable.

I know an aftermarket review camera can be added pretty cheap. I'll go ahead on do that if I keep it. Navigation looked like it would be pretty expensive. I was looking for a factory model from a wreck that I could (hopefully) replace my current setup with but that unit was crazy expensive. How would you go about it?

It all depends on your financial status, to be honest.

That said, I'm in the 'get the truck YOU want' camp. Like you, I absolutely hate the burgandy/tan combo on ANY ride. Just ****ing horrible IMO.

If you found that the newer seats are more comfortable for long drives, I'd just pull the trigger. It really sucks driving a ride that you aren't comfortable in. Life is too short to deal with that. Good Luck and let us know what you decide.

I gota ask, why did you buy that color combo in the first place? It's one of my least favorites also.

For me the biggest factor in buying something used is you don't know the history, but you've already pointed that out.

All that said, I wouldn't trade for something with higher miles and questionable history...

Why not just use navigation on your phone? That's pretty common. All you need is a dash mount.

If the seat doesn't work for you, time to find one that will. Find a truck that you can put a good bumper to bumper extended warranty on out as far as you can mileage and timewise.

Seems to me you have the 7 year itch and are making small problems into big problems to justify a new/different ride. Who is to say a different trucks seat will be any better than what you have now, and as far as nav/backup cams phones will have a better nav system and backup cams are easy and cheap. You have lived with the seats and colors for 7 years why does it mater now.

If you're going to trade, trade for something new and take advantage of the 0%. As someone with a bad back I've always found Ford to have the best seats. You can pick up an XLT 302a packaged truck for around 40k brand new. It'll have everything you want and more.

Otherwise just keep your truck and fix it.

Keep your eyes out for a 2019 F250 STX. Probably a bunch out there with the 6.2 and CC. Many come with Sync 3. There are some great incentives on them right now.

2015-current F150 and 2017-current super duty share cabs so if the SD is too much truck, F150 could work. Though, it does seem the F150 is priced near the SD.

Also, RAM is pretty much giving non HO Cummins Rams away so take a good look at them too.
