What got me is the $2,600 gas guzzler tax!!! Holy crap!!!
Does the new GT500 really suck down that much gas or is it a "You're rich, we'll take your money" tax??? ****.

I'm glad that the EPA didn't look to closely at the 2013-14 GT500's. I have been tracking my fuel mileage since the day I drove it off the lot on Jan 26, 2013 and the average MPG is 14 mpg.

At that rate the Gas Guzzler Tax would have been $5400.

Wow, that's crazy. How much of a gas guzzler tax did the '13/'14 GT500 cars have?
My '13 Roush Stage 3 had a $1,500 gas guzzler tax.

I think the Hellcats and Redeyes have a less expensive GG tax than the new GT500?

Zero, no Gas Guzzler Tax
18 MPG Combined - According to the chart it should have been $2600

After doing some research on the Gas Guzzler Tax I found this fun fact.
The tax is based on the combined city/hwy MPG.

This is rather worrisome part:
"Fuel economy values are calculated before sales begin for the model year. The total amount of the tax is determined later and is based on the total number of gas guzzler vehicles that were sold that year. It is assessed after production has ended for the model year and is paid by the vehicle manufacturer or importer."

So if the actual tax is less than Ford collects, does Ford pocket the difference? My guess is that if the tax is less, the buyer will never see the difference.

Basically Ford is charging us a hypothetical tax that has not even been determined and won't be until the end of the model year.

If I didn't get loud with my '14 GT500 I would average about 21mpg.

I don't get loud with my 13 and over the last 6 1/2 years I have averaged 14 mpg. The car is pretty thirty on short runs around town. On the highway I have seen 21 mpg, but the majority of my driving is short hops.

I don't know why Ford can't have Recaros made with power and heated/cooled seats also. Getting Recaros means you go back to manual adjustments and you lose the heat/cool feature of the standard seats. It's almost unacceptable in this price range of car. You pay extra for the Recaros but you lose all the features that come with standard seats, I'd rather pay more for the Recaros and get those features.

You can make the argument about the extra weight blah blah, but at this price range not having that option when cars in the same price point or higher have it makes the car feel cheap.

The vette has competition seats as an option over the standard seats but the Comp seats still come with power and heat/cool so sorry Ford...……..inexcusable.

Taxation is Theft

I agree. Every tax is a double negative.
•Money is taken out of an already allegedly imperfect economy.
•that money is gone. This create a vacuum. It’s often filled with... inflation. How nice.
•the tax money collected is always reinstituted into the economy in a more disruptive way than the free market would have efficiently settled.

The debtor is slave to the lender. What’s sad is we have become so asleep as citizens that we allow and prop up politician a superiors to tell us they need our money to help us more than we can figure out how to use it ourselves. Think about that. Enough citizens are bad enough at budgeting and balancing their income that they want the government to do it for them...wow.

Ok back to gt500. The guzzler tax is dumb. Do electric cars have a radio active isotope and carbon footprint tax? News flash, trees and plants can clean up carbon dioxide, ain’t nothing but antimatter that’s going to efficiently eat up radioactive isotopes and the waste in dead battery cells.

Also to brag, I get 25+mpg highway in my cobra with 3.73’s, viper overdrives, twin turbos, stage 3 cams, and fully ported heads. City is like 10-12 though

It only applies to cars, "This tax does not apply to minivans, sport utility vehicles, and pick-up trucks." How screwed up is that? The worst gas guzzlers in the country are exempt.

Yeah, that is pretty screwed up.
A lot of the newer trucks have a fuel saving system though. Chevy/GMC has the AFM system and Ram trucks had the MDS system. I disengage the MDS every time I drive my truck. It's pretty annoying and sounds like shit with a loud aftermarket muffler on the truck. I bought a V8 to have a full time V8. I don't really care about my gas consumption,.....to a point. lol

My Mustang on the other hand, does like to suck down the gas a bit. $2,100 gas guzzler on that bad boy.

I am impressed with the FP PCV Oil separator, especially the plumbed-in drain line that requires no service. Been using Steeda Separators on my performance builds which are basically an enhanced canning jar. Wonder how much Ford Performance will be asking for this over-engineered vacuum/oil separator?

Ford oil separator set up with a " drain " that doesn't require servicing !
Not sure I would want what it catches back in MY crankcase..
