Hi there.. new to the site. I have a 2001 Cobra. Just getting ready to start it.. I am looking for a o ring for the big bolt for the oil filter adapter. The one you screw the oil filter on. There is a small o ring half way down. Mine was broken. Can't find the part anywhere. Does anyone know of any other o ring that fits.

Thanks in advance.

I am in Canada and with the borders shut down i can't go down and pick anything up in the States right now. I thought maybe grainger or someone made something that fits. The problem is. I have no idea the size. Mine was so hard it broke into a ton of pieces.

Thanks in advance.

Did a Ford dealer parts department tell you that the part is discontinued?

Yes they did. I called 2 dealers that are svt dealers. Said they cant get it. They have the base gasket. Got that from them.. I thought maybe someone else made a o ring that would work. I have all the other gaskets already.

I am seeing a lot of o-ring kits listed on Ebay.

I bought that one and the o ring for the bolt ripped in half as it's a little to big. I had to take it off after i put it on as it was still leaking oil. It was so thin and cheap.. I might have to wait for the bordes to open again :(. Just put my car back together. Wanting to start it up.

I ask because I spent a couple years chasing leaks from my cooler. I'd change that o-ring, or tighten the bolt down further, and it would slow the leak for a month. It eventually got so bad, I had to rebuild the oil cooler, with a kit like the one pictured above. Here's a picture I took of the cooler's core, before I refurbished it. Look how flat the O-rings were--and rock hard.

Here's what it looked like after some elbow grease, before new O-rings went back on.

Anyhow, I just wanted to mention that if his cooler won't stop leaking, he may need to rebuild it. Mine was leaking both oil and coolant, but hasn't leaked a drop of either since the rebuild.
