Stinger tail pipes different bends or size?

I just got a used set of stingers and when mounting them it seems like the passenger side tail pipe is longer between the bends. The part that runs perpendicular to the direction the car moves. The drivers side tail pipe doesn't wrap around the tank like the passenger. Hard to explain but I'll post pics of what I mean. Curious if this is a known thing w the stingers.

Not my cars, but using as examples.
First pic looks very symmetrical. Second pic is almost exactly how mine looks right now. Driver's side tail pipe is not symmetrical w the passenger side. Is it because the tank shield is not symmetrical?

Dombrocj: I know exactly what your talking about, although I thought the drivers side tucked better than the passenger side. My car had the stingers when I bought it and never liked the fitment, the pass side went out further in cross car just like the pictures you show. It was damn close to kissing the 315’s on 17” 10.5” reps with a 1/4 spacer.

I think that’s just the way the Borla system is designed because damn near every car I’ve looked at shows the same trend. Add in some crazy build variance of these cars and some are worse than others. Personally, I think my car was pretty bad.

Anyways, I just switched over to the Bassani 3” and the fitment is much better, even with the larger diameter pipes. They almost kiss in the center going out to the tailpipes, but there is about 1/2 inch and I used new rubber isolators, so it’s not moving. Also ridiculously close to the diff, but again I have some clearance (worn rubber isolators would actually have helped me here). Better clearance to the tires as well.

First pic below is my car with stingers (about 2 weeks ago) and second pic is with the Bassani taken the other day. I know the angle is not as good in the second pic, but I think it’s easy to see the difference.

hope that helps...

Thanks for the sanity check on this. New pipes look good. They hang a little more in the middle. You like the bassani sound better? What midpipe are u running?

Yeah the Bassani is a little lower due to the 3” vs 2.5” Borla, but even with that I have enough ground clearance for my usage and again the overall fitment is better. I have it tucked in there as tight as I can!

I do like the Bassani note better as I’m running a Bassani o/r X. The note is a little more exotic, yet more refined as well...the Borla is just pure noise EVERYWHERE...it would do better with Hpipe, Prochamber, or an X with cats.

Yea I have a Catted X. It's not bad. Little drone around 2k, but I like it better than my previous setup which was stock H w SLP LM1s.

And here I thought I was the only one! Passenger side S-type fits like poop. No matter what I try, the perpendicular section right after the diff wants to settle about 1/2" higher than the driver's side. I just switched from Magnaflow to Borla last year, but after seeing the fresh Bassani pic, my wheels are turning again. lol I run a catted x-pipe and the Borla sounds decent from the driver's seat and at idle, but the "exotic" sound has piqued my interest.

Yea I just bought this catback used, I definitely don't think I'm going to keep it long term. Probably run it for this season and look for something different next spring.

My biggest thing was making sure the polished pipes were visible, so I want something to hang lower.

Your not the only one! I’m also very particular to tip alignment / how much extends beyond the fascia lip and the Borla sucked based on the clamp points. I get it that I could have cut the tips to add a clamp for more alignment flexibility, but I decided to go different all together. The 3” Bassani does have clamps right at the tips for perfect alignment...I played with it for probably 20 minutes and got it exactly how I like.

The “exotic” sound is more associated at high rpm with our modular engines. It’s still clearly a mustang, but screams at the high end and I like that versus what I’ll call the pure thunder or rumble of a muscle car or the historic 5.0L sound.
