If you worked commission is the current economy and you had a customer call would you take a lunch?

Long story short a called a boat dealer at 1130. Rold him my intentions to buy if they still have the unit in stock which I know they do, inquired about adding some stuff to said boat.

He said sales will call ya shortly they are eating

Now I'm not pissed, but I would think given the climate they would put down the fork and call me back. I know I would cuz I'd want that commission and I know that unit has been there for 2 months now.

It's a two hour drive, if I totally like what I see and they want to deal I'll bring that bitch home the second the upgrades are installed

Were you talking to a member of the sales team or a front desk person? I would imagine sales would lose their mind if they are in the right mind in this climate. ABC

I honestly dont care about it, I'm just asking what you would do lol. I know I'd tackle someone to get to phone with a potential sale on the other end right now

I'm making venison jerky right now and I really just wanna know if I can look at the boat today, it a two hour drive and I dont wanna just go there and have to drive home without atleast touching it lol

my business operates where we take lunches in shifts.. it's been that way for 10 years plus my dad having a business that operated in the same fashion for 20+ years.. around here, insurance agents shut down for lunch and nobody is there to answer the phone from 12-1.. i don't get it..

I work on 100% commission on the service side and although we always have someone available to take a call if its someone calling me directly they can wait until I return from lunch. I will move my lunch time around to help any customers I may have coming in or currently onsite but once I'm gone don't expect a call back until I return. There are others that are different and I will make exceptions for emergencies but for the most part when I'm off the clock that is my time, whether it be my lunch break or I've left for the day.

Personally, I answer my phone all of the time.

But, would I expect that from others? No.

So I just called back...talked to the same guy. The only person there is the owner or so the guys tells and he is going through a pile of papers... I told him straight up..."tell him to call me to tell let me know if I can come down and make deal on this boat"

I worked commision for years and if I missed a salescall just because I was having lunch I would be pissed. Big time!

I see both sides. I get so many calls and emails from tire kickers it would make your head spin, however I still answer them and if I’m in the middle of something important I do my best to return the call or email as quickly as possible.

They’re probably in the same boat (lol) and sick of wasting time with people not serious about a purchase.

I would have said They’re tied up at moment not that they were eating lunch though.

Not at all worked up about it...im just curious what my svt bros in sales would do

**** the lunch, I'll make time for any clientele no matter what. It could be right before closing, I don't care.

You're ready to buy? The food can wait, Ill make sure paperwork is ready before you pick it up - I can always reheat the food later.

1000%. Couldn't have said it better myself on all accounts.

If their hours say 9:00 to 5:00 or whatever then they should be working with people during lunch. Assuming more than one person works there, they can rotate their lunch hours.
