How much is the quarantine making you drink?

If it needs to be chased, I don't want it. I will say, I've had a shot of Don Julio (straight from Mexico) before, and it wasn't terrible.

I thoroughly enjoy whiskey and bourbon outside of my normal breskies. However, if I can't drink it neat or over ice, it's no friend of mine. I'll drink it with soda from time to time to mix it up... pun intended. I've found that Gentleman Jack is a great value in the whiskey world. Smooth going down and not overly expensive like many.

Buffalo Trace is much better value than Gentlemen's Jack, not only in flavor but price.

My opinion.

Bourbon thread?
For good value from the same family as BT I enjoy Eagle Rare.
I also find exceptional value and flavor from the Four Roses family, specifically the single barrel offering.
Caution - your region plays havoc with pricing and availability so YMMV. Example Weller 107 is $75 were I live in New England when you can get it, and $54 when I bought it in Ohio last week so my value can be skewed too....

I actually drink quite a bit less. Like 1-2 times a week and rarely successive days. I used to drink everyday, but slowed down due to going back to school and now COVID has pushed that limit even lower.

I didn't even realize it, but I started drinking pretty heavily. However, I now realize I am an amateur compared to some of you.

I'll grab a 6 pack of some random Craft locally and kill that in a night on a heavier night. 3-4 beers isn't abnormal. But the babies due soon, which stresses me out. However, because he's due, I've tried to cut back. Had my first dry 36-48 hours in a while over sunday. Then only had a few while putting together a friends car last night.

Lol I thought I was about to be raked over the coals with these quotes.

Eagle Rare is a great drink too, I usually will pick it up if it's $30 per bottle or less.

Four Roses single barrel is amazing. It was the first single barrel I ever tried, I drank too much and on a gold mine tour the next morning I threw up like 2000' underground lol.

Weller is fantastic and impossible to find out here, I got it once for $50, it sits on shelves in KS though so my buddy always sends me texts when he gets a bottle lol.

It's generally around $28 out here, but every now and then the liquor store attached (not in) Costco will have it for $22.

Pretty much impossible to beat the value.

Hmm may have to look into this.

If you don't believe me, try GJ side by side with it with a good bit of water in each before you go making cocktails. You'll have a strong appreciation for the flavor.

I used to be a huge JD fan back when I was younger, I told a guy I worked with about it and he suggested adding water to it to get some more flavor without the burn (I wasn't very good at drinking whiskey straight back then). I tried it that night and I don't think I've bought a bottle of Jack since.

I’ve cut back significantly. Almost using this as a forced cleanse before the inevitable shit show once the state opens back up lol.

Also, almost all this, I drink cheap beer. My wife will only drink "craft" ciders. $10 six packs versus my $15 24 packs. I, naturally, have to drink a lot to make up the difference!

This weekend is supposed to be beautiful and I'm dealing with back issues. Sounds like a perfect storm to kill some silver bullets.

Eagle Rare is good, can never seem to find Buffalo Trace. They are the same company.

When you can find Weller's, I haven't seen it for less than about $90 a bottle.

Based on conversations with others around the country, we seem to have higher prices than most.

Probably around a 12 pack of Guinness a week. I miss being able to buy my $3.50 Thursday Special 32oz Long Island. One of those and I was set.
