hmm...kinda want one but now I'll have to buy new cases and shit too...

Is this the current model? I really dont keep up with them..hell, my current one might be a 3 I just don't use it much.

I read a lot of reviews saying the hero8 isn't as good as the 7. anyone have input to support that?

No, but I can promise that the Garmin Virb is better than both.

Functionally, the 8 is about the same as a 7. The biggest difference is it has a little better stabilization, then of course the new form factor. If you have a bunch of accessories or are more budget minded def look at the 7. It's on sale too:

I think you overlooked the shooting speed. The Garmin has double.

I just installed one on the rear of my car to run a 7" HDMI display for a rear view monitor since my mirror is basically worthless.

the garmin shoots 4k30fps, the hero8 shoots 4k60. The comparison chart is simply wrong.

You are 100% correct.

Good find! Just looked up specs off of their websites. I found it hard to imagine that the Virb being 3 years older had better shooting capabilities.

is google just wrong? if you put in hero8 v garmin virb ultra 30 it says the opposite
