Man I love the BAB Cobras! I have a 97' green Cobra that I have thought may times about switching to BAB.

The car looks great!

I don't see how people have the patience to see a project like this through. My ADD gets the best of me in a short period of time

BAB ftmfw, can't wait to see this one completed. It's been a LONG journey man.

Thanks sir. It's been a long journey for sure and I still have a long way to go.

Thank you! When you have a project such as this you have to remind yourself it's about the endgame not the short term. You work in segments of months and years rather than days. It takes a lot of discipline for sure but it's worth it in the end.

Wow it has been a long time since I updated this thread! You can follow the progress of my BAB and other vehicles on Instagram @mysteedgarage for more frequent updates.

Headers removed from the motor, stripped, then painted with high temp silver metallic paint:

Underbody was prepped and painted satin black. May come back and revisit this with Lizard Skin or something similar but for now this will do.

Motor and trans assembly time! Went to install the clutch and found a....slight issue. Three of the eight bolts stripped out before getting to spec. Now let's see why!

Tearing the motor back apart and finding another crank was out of the question. So it was Helicoil time!

For future reference old bolts on the left and new OE bolts on the right. Left side bolts are apparently from a rear differential cover. How they held the previous time I have no idea.

Time to start the upgrades! First up is the stock brakes. While there is nothing "wrong" with them they just don't have that pop that they used to. Sold them in favor of a slight upgrade.

J64 XTX calipers with 2014 GT500 rotors sitting behind 18" Saleen wheels. These brakes are MASSIVE!

Compared to stock brakes on 17" 03/04 Cobra wheels:

Hell yea! Been hoping to see some updates.

That flywheel looked a bit "hot" to me. Was the surface not all messed up?

Wow man, I saw your brake picture in the Brembo thread as I'm using the ATS calipers on my 92 fox and saw you had a BAB 98, found your thread and rode the 34 page roller coaster of emotion for the last few hours. What a freaking story man! Great save!

The updates have been overdue for a while and unfortunately I have been lagging behind. Flywheel did look to have some hotspots but it machined out okay after we tested fitment of the helicoils & bolts.

Wow, thanks for sticking through all 34 pages! It's been a roller coaster of a ride for sure. Thank you!

Don't discount the MJ.
Heck yes. The MJ is sturdy workhorse of a gal.

I'm excited to hear it start as well! Motor wise it's "stock" heads on top of forged internals and I'll be adding some Comp Cams to the mix. Should have a rowdy idle.
