Yes Happy 20th for our beloved 2000R. One thing that still baffles me is why the value of this great and very limited car has not really progressed to it potential yet after 20 years. Thoughts, insights? I may look at selling mine this year to another collector. it only has 164 miles on it and may be time for someone else to enjoy as part of a collection. my mindset is shifting to drivable cars.

Normally cars depreciate after leaving the factory. You could say the mighty 00R has resisted much depreciation and low-mile pristine cars actually command prices higher than the original sticker price. These cars will jump in value, it’s just a matter of time. They are way too cool and rare not to appreciate nicely. I suspect we shall see a nice bump around the 25 year point. Collector cars typically see a nice value increase around that time.

In the meantime, I’ll just enjoy owning mine and taking it out for an occasional spirited run.

The buying public doesn't want to make a bad purchase decision, add to that some of the misinformation posted by your fellow 00R owners, do you really have to wonder ?
Here's something posted by the OP on another site:
" Cobra R is not a selectable “option” you simply check when ordering a Mustang in 2000. It is its own car. "
As it's clearly listed on the window sticker as an option, makes me wonder how stupid he thinks people are..

Wow Don!

You couldn’t get me to engage in a fight with you on the forum I manage so now you come here in the Cobra R section to continue your efforts? Are you going stir crazy during lockdown? Get outside and breathe some fresh air and get some sun. It will hopefully make your life a bit better.

You could always buy a mighty 2000 Cobra R so you could post in this section frequently. It would go well with your “1 of 1” 2014 GT500.

A thread which contains opposing views isn't a fight, it's a discussion. Your side of the discussion contained paragraphs of full of your distorted & inaccurate information........ ( a tactic used by those spewing BS )
I presented brief posts supported by documentation. You may think you're fooling someone, but people are just smarter than that,.........& they have your #.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend..

Yeah, but end of the day most of the 00R's that come up for sale recently are valued and sold higher than 07-14 GT500's that "out perform" it or were uniquely optioned. That's something to say about a 20 year old, well optioned Mustang.

The 00R will eventually go down (if it hasn't already) as one of the most iconic big 3 cars of 2000-2020. Even with the relaunch of the 500 in 2006, update in 13, and the 03/04 run of the Cobra.

I'd love to have one, but I drive my cars a lot, and wouldn't do an R justice. My '12 500 is a perfect mix of a sweet car, value retention, and low collectibility. End of the day, it doesn't matter for me. I'll beat that car into the ground until the day I die. The boy will be lucky if there's anything left of it.

I have one Master Doug, and I don't come here to praise Him. I have other avenues to that.

I read the forum via "New Posts" and comment where I feel I have a valued response.

I respect the car for what it is. I'm far from a lamb and I find it very surprising that you'd even comment towards me like that. I thought we had better respect for each other.

That's what surprises me about your post. I do have respect for you. It just seems an unusual coincidence when your words were mentioning 13/14, and uniquely optioned.
Really? As if we don't know where this started? And by whom has been outed with documentation?
I know the original problem and the common denominator behind this as usual.
When you come to terms with it, you'll see who your real friends are.

Well said Nick! It comes down to supply vs. demand... demand for both the 2000 Cobra R as well as GT500s like the 13/14 are strong. The difference is the supply of 00Rs is limited to just 300 units whereas there are 10,615 13/14 GT500 in circulation. This is why the prices for the R have remained strong and will eventually get crazy.

Unfortunately ever since I removed the stock clutch I have had clutch issues. The only thing left is the clutch cable. I replaced the clutch cable and quadrant however the motor is so big the firewall adjuster will not fit.

Now it feels like the cable is sticking every time you depress the clutch.

Said in jest because this back and forth has been ridiculous, and now has carried across 2 platforms.

Keep the Mach in good shape for me pops.

I, like a lot of Mustang enthusiasts, look to the R as a halo car that was far and above what was normally produced at that time. With that said I would trade any and all of my Mustangs for any chance at owning one.

I'm not a moderator on this forum but the R section is a small group and we all know each other. Most of us have tracked at speed together and enjoyed a cold one at the end of the day in the pits. I consider these guys my friends and they are all over the U.S.

There are a few on this thread that are newer to this forum. Don't drag your baggage to this forum. Keep it in the Shelby section or over on the "other" forum.

There are a bunch of us old-timers on this section and we enjoy each others company and appreciate the friendly environment and don't need the additional rhetoric.

I know the other guys feel the same way.

Thank you, Tom
