I’ll say this first, I love my boys! However, they are driving my wife and I insane. It doesn’t help we have no yard from a fresh build either. What are you all doing to keep your kids busy during this unforeseen pandemic? I think I may cut them loose on their quads tomorrow in the mud!

Time for the Cool Hand Luke treatment, "Hey boys, what's your dirt doing in my ditch?"

My daughter is four so she’s got a good amount of neediness in her. So far we’ve gone to the park and played soccer, shoot hoops in the back yard, took short bike rides and a few other thing. It’s been in the mid 60s degree wise and our pool water is only 50 degrees. However, my kid has gone swimming everyday. We only let her stay in the water for 10 min or so. However it will be 80 by next Wednesday so hopefully i can keep her swimming.

I'm sorry to break it to you all but the virus will go down when the warm weather happens and spark up in the fall and winter, this is no laughing matter. Don't go balls out when people feel better, it's a matter of time when it strikes back up.

The one thing I can present without sounding like an aluminum hat is, stock up in small rations over time, learn to start bottling food and drink as much as you can without becoming an alcoholic. Also the age of tech can bring people together but those that want to take risks in interaction are not worth at this time. From what I was old the CDC will not have a true cure for 18 months if not longer. In the past, we worried about nuclear warfare but it seems it's not that but truly biological. I truly pray this was not a terrorism attack globally. We have far more issues to deal with then this ****.

FYI I'm ready for Zombieland plus I am Legend without dumbass movie thrillers but more or less Outbreak

I usually agree with what you say (and would like to continue the conversation in the Coronavirus thread) but damn dude, you are really on the fringe of anyone I know personally.

I say that as a person who made sure to have thousands of rounds of ammo in my safe, hundreds of lbs of beef/venison in my freezer and also recently buying a generator that can run the fridge/freezer in my house.

Being in Madison I'm probably not more than 2.5 hours from you but your concern on the matter is quite different than mine.

As mentioned, i'd certainly be up for discussing this further.

It will go down but not disappear. The virus is alive and well in the heat that just was summer in Australia.

It will join the others and become a seasonal infection. It is here to stay.

From the CDC:

Coronavirus

Coronaviruses are named for the crown-like spikes on their surface. There are four main sub-groupings of coronaviruses, known as alpha, beta, gamma, and delta.

Human coronaviruses were first identified in the mid-1960s. The seven coronaviruses that can infect people are:

Common human coronaviruses
  1. 229E (alpha coronavirus)
  2. NL63 (alpha coronavirus)
  3. OC43 (beta coronavirus)
  4. HKU1 (beta coronavirus)
Other human coronaviruses
  1. MERS-CoV (the beta coronavirus that causes Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS)
  2. SARS-CoV (the beta coronavirus that causes severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS)
  3. SARS-CoV-2 (the novel coronavirus that causes coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19)
People around the world commonly get infected with human coronaviruses 229E, NL63, OC43, and HKU1.

Sometimes coronaviruses that infect animals can evolve and make people sick and become a new human coronavirus. Three recent examples of this are 2019-nCoV, SARS-CoV, and MERS-CoV.

I have a 2.5 yr a 3old and a week old. So one just shits, cries and drinks and the other is a kid who already dropped all his naps. So, it's tough trying to help the wife with the infant but the toddler is bouncing off the walls. Let him outside but now it's in the 90s in Florida so it can't be for too long

My 7 and 4 year olds spend 80% of their waking hours fighting... ie: the older one makes the younger one scream, break apart, rinse, repeat.

The 1 year old has the nose of a bloodhound for toilet paper. So we spend half the day chasing him around to protect our stock.

I’m still out working, but the wife is at home. It helps having a nanny though. She has to help with the kids because the wife does telehealth conferences, and there’s no way she could do that with the kids all over her.

Just let them run, burn energy, and try to let the annoying stuff slide.

100% biological, and this will resurge. This was intentional and we know who is responsible! Look into China 2049.

This is a great time for families to bond. Seriously. Wife and I were walking on our town walking path (runs through the state) and it was great seeing a lot of families walking together, enjoying the weather and bonding. I didn't see any kids out of control. They were really having a good time with each other (siblings) and mom & dad. Be creative with time spent with your kids. And do things together. Outside or inside. Play board games. Help them with their online school work. My daughter took our youngest granddaughter outside in their backyard to study school stuff. They both enjoyed it. If you have boys, do a father/son project together, do a mother/daughter project, do a family project. Make dinner together and let the kids be involved with making it. Wouldn't hurt to have them help clean up. Please don't say with your kids this isn't impossible. Nothing is impossible. It does, though, require a desire to do it and a bit of creativity. Try to avoid letting the TV be their babysitter.

So the upside to the difficult isolation we're facing is that it can be a time when we bond together as families. Don't miss this great opportunity. Your kids will greatly benefit from the time you spend together, and you'll benefit as well. Years from now your kids will remember it, not for how difficult everything was during the coronavirus isolation, but for how must they loved the quality time they spent with you and each other. Try it and let them know you are really IN IT. You just might be pleasantly surprised. ;)

You sometimes forget, how diverse the US is. I'm sitting here, in front of my wood stove, hoping to break 50 degrees today. Haha! 90s wow!

Mine are older and independant, so they are on their electronics, but we have family dinner, say grace to remind them to be thankful, and have a family game for 15 minutes at least, which last night went 3 hours. Less fighting than when they were young for sure, but nice to get a small piece of bonding back.

I've enjoyed hanging out with my little guy (3yr old.) Playing a lot of dinosaurs and reading him books. It's kinda nice not having a bunch of commitments or places to be on my days off. With everyone so stressed out, it's easy to pick stupid fights with the wife. Just trying to keep a positive attitude.
