Shit, sorry to hear that man. Automotive dealers repair shops are probably going to suffer big time. Any shop that relied on CP to make hours will hurt. Dealers that are in it for warranty work better pray there are enough people that want to get their cars fixed, even if its free.

We are feeling the hit HARD. Something like a 70% decrease in service business. At times we sit for hours without a vehicle coming in. Will probably get worse now that our county is "shelter in place". I'm 100% commission paid, I don't get anything for just being here.

That being said, we had a dealer meeting on tuesday and they announced some big changes that are going to help the employees. Perks of working for a large dealer. We are splitting into 2 teams and one team will work 2 days on then the other team 2 days on, to try and limit exposure with each other. We will be paid if we are here to work, its not the same money I normally make but its a hell of a lot better than I would be making with the business we have currently. No layoffs here, dealer is going to take care of everyone.

My wife on the other hand is sitting at home with our son, she does not have the option to work from home, so although she (thankfully) will have a job to return to, she will not be making any money for the foreseeable future.

I'm in the office this morning doing some Infrastructure work to our Network. Hoping there's not many people here today. Coming in a 5:30 AM traffic was even less than it normally is for that early.

I've been WFH for the past two weeks. I'm in product management for consumer / B2B facing products.

I'm currently pursuing an exec-MBA from Michigan. Our entire curriculum and residencies have moved online. I'm extremely impressed at how they were able to seamlessly transition to live curriculum through Zoom. Our cohort graduates end of April but the ceremony was cancelled.

My wife is in the medical field and her hospital has shifted from elective surgeries to helping out with medical and emergency.

So far, I've set myself up three different work areas to keep it "fresh." One in my office, one in my basement, and one in the garage. I'll most likely be working from home for the next 4-6 weeks.

My place shut down sales and only have 2 advisors for the next few weeks instead of 5. Got a text from an advisor today and he said they only had 10 cars come in. That’s Brutal. At this rate my unemployment check will be bigger than my actual check.

Yeah, this is really hard for a lot of people, but don't let your hope fade. Soon enough the crisis will start to end and we will (quickly hopefully) get back to normal, or something near normal. So hang in there, folks. Hang in there!

IT here and wife is a teacher. Easy enough for me to WFH and I'm enjoying it to be honest (I usually WFH twice a week anyhow) and we are very fortunate to have a continued paycheck unlike some. It's also nice to be able to interact with my kids throughout the day as well. We are still supporting the activities they were in instead of canceling/putting on hold because we don't want them to go under and know every bit helps.

I'm a small business owner of an Auto Repair shop. We have had 90% reduction in customers in the last 2 weeks and almost zero shop income. Even the scam telemarketers have stopped calling 20 times a day. I had to lay off my only employee today. Hopefully we can turn this around quickly and get back to work.

I've looked all my life for a high paying gig where I could work from home. Ironically, that job found me. I've been told to work remotely indefinitely.

I was getting up at 4:30 to get to the office by 6 to beat traffic. Now I roll out of bed at 7:15. I just wish my LRCX stock wasn't getting murdered. Y'all might look into buying some, either now or later. We dominate a lot of markets related to computer chip making machines.

LRCX (Lam Research) was about $210/share then. Now $320 today. You guys bought some, right?

It's going to be longer than 2 weeks. The intent is to ensure everyone who's currently infected has the disease run it's course before they let up. Probably more like 4 to 8.

Don't we wish we were only locked down for 8 weeks.

4 to 8 weeks mandated by the gov? lol.... No. Maybe in commie CA sure, but not nation-wide.

Probably should have been nation wide based on what I'm seeing in other states right now.

The global economy could MAYBE handle the US shutting down for 2 weeks. 4 - 8? No ****ing way.

And yet here we are.

Based on what? The death rate that is actually less than 1/2 a percent based on multiple serology tests in multiple states? GTFO with that nonsense.

Your feeble attempt at making yourself look prophetic with the idiotic post above is laughable at best.

You're an uneducated moron if you think deaths are the only concern with catching the virus.

What if you no longer had the stamina to spank it ?
Really?

I've designed more complex machines than a Wankabator 9000.

I'm sure I can rig up something with stuff laying around the house.

A little duct tape, chicken feathers, and peach preserves.

Right now its 11.49% out of total outcomes(deaths/recovered)....Edit:
Wrong math, should have been deaths/recovered+deaths. True current death rate of known cases is 10.3%. My fault for fear mongering.
4.77% that is if everyone else who has it currently will recover and this won't happen. We won't even talk about the lack of lung capacity for the rest of ones life after they've caught the disease.

What's your point? I was referencing a complete, nobody-leave-the-house-or-go-to-work for 2 - 4 weeks, not haphazard, partial shutdowns.

No real point, other than to say we've gone through more than 2-4 weeks cumulatively of nobody leaving the house and the economy is in tatters. You were right.

Really?

That's the spirit! Don't forget caramel syrup. It helps everything stick together.

Or the thickened blood causing strokes, or the persistent smell of smoke, or an inflamed heart, or seizures, or encephalitis.

Construction company here. 15 office and about 30 field guys.

We were shut down with the initial order back in March even though a day or so later it was revised for construction to be deemed "essential". We closed our office for about two weeks, ran things remote. Owner hated it as he's an old school paper guy. At about the two week mark we started trickling back in. My wife then thought she had it, so we "self quarantined" at that point. Got the runaround for about a week and a half through various phone and video chats with nurses. Finally talked to her Dr who laughed and was like "yeah, you don't have covid, nobody we are seeing does". Mid April at this point, and I had enough of stay-at-home working, and have been going into the office full time since.

**** the shutdowns. Those that have family thats vulnerable need to handle their own engagement with society. The rest of us shouldnt be held back due to a virus with a ****ing 99.945% survival rate, with that 0.055% being mostly elderly and those with moderate underlying symptoms. Sick of this black plague level response for a ****ing respiratory cold, of which wouldve been shrugged off as "just another bug going around" any other year.

Our governor issued an order for restaurants and bars to close for 30 days effective last night at 8pm. Every single one I've seen has ignored it.
