(I know there’s an F150 section but it lacks traffic)

Going to be replacing pads on the wife’s truck here soon as it’s definitely on the indicators right now.

‘15 XLT Supercrew 5.0 equipped if any of that matters on pad size..

Had no issues with factory braking performance, but wouldn’t mind going to something that offers a lot less dust.

I have looked at a few places and have seen pad/rotor combinations in the 400-450 range. Rotors were turned once before so I may look at replacing them as well.

Any recommendations from the SVT crew?

Unnecessary pic is unnecessary.

Ceramic pads have less dust, but also less initial bite, especially in cold climates. Semi-metallics have good cold bite, but more dust.

I've done a couple of brake jobs on F150's and they seemed to have really good OEM brakes (whereas Chevy/GMC trucks do not IMO). I'd be comfortable trying some ceramic pads on an F150. Akebono gets great reviews for ceramic pads.

Obviously, you don't want any 'racing' type pads, as they are designed to bite only after warmed up (or hot).

We usually install Ceramic pads on our customer's vehicles unless they specify otherwise. I would look at brands like WBR, Wagner, or Centric if you are looking to stay under $450 for pads and rotors. I'm showing $558.13 for WBR ceramic pads and rotors installed with tax so if you are doing it yourself you would be into it $378.00 for parts roughly. Using Wagner OEX ceramic pads and FVP rotors which are just Centric rotors the cost for parts would be about $254.11 and that is a combination I have used a lot too that I have never had any issues with.

Above that for quality you would be looking at Akibono and Motorcraft which would likely run you in excess of $400 for parts alone.

i believe this is one of the sets I saw in the 400 range. Thanks, was hoping someone had used them.

I've used the eBay special zinc-coated slotted and drilled rotors and ceramic pads on my last three F-150s and there's no better deal and the performance is great. Low dust, good looks, good performance, and awesome value. You can get all four corners with pads and rotors for about $200 shipped.

the OE pads on my 2012 were over 60k and I decided to "upgrade" to EBC even though I could have gone a good chunk longer, truck blew right the hell through them. I went back to stock pads again and all is well. At the time Hawk didnt offer a full set (fronts but no rears or something like that), EBC had a full set so I tried them, wont do that again

LOL, those prices are absolutely ridiculous! You bought and installed a complete set of these parts?? And they worked OK?

It does NOT get any cheaper than that. I'd be a little worried on quality though.

6x. They have been great. No odd wear, no cracking from pad or rotor. And I'll say I'm on the aggressive side of driving and haul my 37 ft 10k lb trailer several times per year. One time they sent the wrong item and had a new set to my door within 2 days of the first.

Obviously this was my first impression too haha

The StopTechs have reviewed well but I’m not sure I want to spend 600+ on a set of front/rears in a truck my wife drives and we rarely tow.

Yeah, this heat issue (ceramics only) is why I most often put semi-metallics in customer or friends (and mine) vehicles. I will put up with the dust, in order to have better cold bite. The exception to the rule IMHO, is when a vehicle has great OEM brakes from the get-go, i.e., the rotors are sufficiently large and the calipers are sufficiently powerful.... then its OK to use ceramics. Again, JMHO. Ceramic pads are usually great, low dust... you just need to press the brake pedal a little harder (mostly when cold).
