Good morning, need some advice on purchase of an 2003 Cobra convertible. Details...
69k miles
Original Owner
All stock never modified
All original parts still on car
Maintenance records
Window sticker
Owners manual
Top in great condition
No paint fade
Always garaged
Newer tires

Negatives are some paint chips on front bumper and some wear on drivers side bolster. I never considered a higher mileage car or owned a convertible but I think the car has a lot of positives aside the mileage.

Any idea on a fair offer or advice to stay away and look for a lower mileage. I may be able to get this one for 15k-16k.
Thank you

I always laugh when people say these cars are "high mileage" cars. The car is 17 years old. At 69K miles that's only just over 4K miles a year.....

If it's only a one owner and the only problems are chips on the front (which is to be expected) and some wear on the drivers seat (also to be expected) I think at 15 or 16K that is a steal...……..

What color is it?

If you can get that car for 15-16K thats a steal IMO, depending on your location Id think it would be closer to 17-18K in value

It's is a silver 10th anniversary
As stated above, by the sound of it... it's a good deal at 15-16k. Plus it being a 10th Anniversary car adds a little more "collector" value in my book if the prices on these ever go up like the Mk4 Supra's and stuff. Best of luck! Post some pics up if you do happen to purchase her!

I think the price is fair. If it's a car you want, go for it.

I can get it for 15k so seriously considering it. I should probably have it checked out by a Ford service center before handing over the check. I'm not sure if I can do a compression check myself before buying. Any other advice?

I haven't bought it. I guess I just don't know if I'd like the convertible or regret the convertible. I've always wanted a coupe and had coupe mustangs.

IMHP the only reason not to buy a vert is if you want to go to the track, then you will need a roll bar. A strut bar and full length welded in subframe connectors will stiffin it up. BTW unlike lesser stangs the top is cloth and insulated.

Personally I wanted a vert and love every second of it. I cant tell you the last time I rode with the top up.
It's all personal preference and intended use. Mine is a weekend car that makes big power. Rare track outings so roll bars arent for me
