So I found this interesting, looking at the best selling cars over the past 40 years. Due to the photo number restriction of 20, I'm breaking it into two threads.

1980 - Oldsmobile Cutlass (469,573 units sold)

Sad to see how prosperous the American car companies were and lose the battle to the Japanese. What a shame. Blows my mind at some point the Olds Cutlass was the best selling car in the United States at one point in time.

Missed the 86 Celebrity pic, doubled up the 85 pic.
I can't believe that was the best selling car that year. What a terrible POS, lol.

Growing up, my Dad always had a company car that served as our sole family vehicle.
Up until 86, they were all Station Wagons (this is before mini vans/utility vans). He was an electronics technician for the AP.
In 86 he had been promoted to Management, and didn't need a wagon anymore, and we got the Celebrity.
Light blue with 80s requisite matching blue interior...what a piece.
I learned to drive in that thing then promptly abused the crap out of it for a few years before it was my brothers turn. He's never admitted to how, but he managed to create a giant dent in the floor of the trans tunnel in the car one night.
That car is probably the reason I wont own anything FWD. It had torque steer like nobody's business. LOL.

That's not a Chevy Celebrity, this is a Celebrity. And if your dad was really dorky he got the Pontiac 6000 GTE

Crazy to think of the difference in quality between the accord and everything that came before it. The 90s accords stand up to anything today IMO but late 80s American could just as well have been made by the Soviets.

This was my first car in the year 2000.
Sadly enough....I wound up owning some sort of Oldsmobile version of the same car around 2000 myself....traded it in on a Z28 in 02 :)
They gave me $1500 for it, they really wanted me to leave in that Catfish. lol.

I realize after posting this thread and reading some of the posts that having owned 25+ cars, I've never owned an Oldsmobile, Mercury or Chrysler product. And I've only owned 4 imports.
