The car will not be tracked. Sorry if that offends you. I am building it for the hobby of building it, not racing it.

Does that change anything about your feelings on whether the Green Cats (or similar) will work? I don't have emissions, but I do have inspections. So, if I go catless, I'd either have to switch them out at inspection time, or gut them. With either, I then have to worry about the car being obscenely loud and raspy, then invest time and money into resonators/mufflers.

This is about a technical aspect, not an emotional one. Nobody is offended.

Heat and boost at the power levels quoted are what puts typical "high flow" cats to the test. Extended levels even more so. Building a mondo horsepower car only to baby it around town is one way to extend the life of a cat(s) I suppose. Just be careful. Monitor your gauges and keep your eyes out for sudden boost spikes that are out of "character" for the engine combination you have. And regularly inspecting the cats for damage until you feel comfortable with them living a life on their own is probably a good idea.

I had Cats from AMR break down even where one of my my Corsa Sports caught the retaining screen which was a PITA rattle. During that time I was sorting out some mod issues & had lots of dyno pulls. AMR told me multiple back to back standing dyno pulls are NOT Cat friendly mostly because of intense heat despite the fans. They said there's world of cooling effect difference when the car is rolling . At the time I was making 700rw.
I had the Cats swapped out but this time they were flanged in. The tech advised if I'm in a mod stage again requiring many back to back dyno pulls to bolt in their OR Cat eliminator pipe. If I was to do it again of course I'd specify not to have the Cats welded but flanged in. Either way AMR got me twice on Cats ($700 for the swap) but there have been zero issues the past 2 years.
HEAT is the enemy.

Once you get into the 800RWHP range, are there any cats we can use and be confident they won't melt down or break up?

I'll go catless if I have to, but would love to find a universal cat I can weld in.
In a word, and completely honestly, no.

Why do you still want them? First thing I did is remove them on my boosted Mustang. A risk I do not want to take.
Ditto. . . I mean I have a catted X as well if just in case I need one for inspection, but I just keep my car under the PA limit to bypass emissions. lol.
There are always ways around things. A midpipe is maybe an hour job including getting the car in the air as a worst case scenario.

Why do u even have Cats? U can still pass emissions without them. U can tune around it and go back to ur regular tune.

I welded in stock hollowed out cats so again I can pass emissions by visual inspection. I passed just fine with a hollowed out one and I'm in CT and we are strict here with emission testing and im probably making more HP than u so again, no need for Cats bro.

Now u start wanting to make 1200+ hp ur gonna need dumps for ur exhaust. Just get electric ones. They work great. Or get ones that work off of a waste gates. Its more expensive but work on command without having to open and close ur dumps.

For what it's worth, the high horsepower blown Vette guys are using Random Tech cats that seem to hold up.

Are you running factory cats?? Cause I'm getting tired of the rich exhaust smell too
When do you get said smell?
I think the only time I have ever smelled anything in my GT500 is a slight tinge at full stop and the wind is blowing towards the front of the car. And it’s only for a second.
