Does anyone here carry a full size pistol? Is it doable or is a compact frame better? I dont need undetectable concealment, but I dont want to completely open carry either.

Im looking at picking up a Glock 20 or Glock 29 next week. A few stores have them here, even with this insane coronavirus panic going on. Id really consider the Glock 29, but the one Ive seen appears to only be an SF Gen 3. Id prefer Gen 4. Ergonomics of the Gen 4 just feel better to me.

I used to carry a 1911 45acp just cause I'm pretty on point with it but dam it's heavy and bulky. I've gone through many guns since then but I currently carry a sig365 just cause it's a better fit for me and holds 12 rounds. If you want to stay in the glock family you can go with a glock 43 xl but ultimately it's going to come down to what you feel the most comfortable carrying and shooting.

I wear baggy clothes usually so printing isn't an issue. In Summer I carry a Sig 229 or M&P 9 with a paddle holster. In Winter I carry a S&W M-60 or M&P 9c with a in the pocket holster.

I do. I carry my M&P 9 full size with an extended mag 22+1. Been carrying it every day for the past 6 years and I have gotten used to it. Plenty of times where it becomes uncomfortable and awkward but I would never want to come into a bad situation without it. The downsides are far outweighed to me.

Edit: it imprints like a mofo but I have found that most people have no clue what the bulge in the back of your shirt is anyways. I've maybe had 1 or 2 gun guys ask me what I'm carrying after noticing it but other than that people are oblivious to it.

I am baffled that someone would walk up to you and ask what you are carrying...

I occasionally carry full size 1911 or 226. Holster is everything. 1911 in an OWB combat master is not a problem. G20 is a pig and outside carry ability IMO.

I love glock. Just don't it. They are ugly as **** but they are so damn reliable. I have 45acp and 9mm full size.

so just to clarify ...in AZ no permit right? Expect schools and govt buildings ?

There may be a small handful of other places too. You can conceal carry into a bar or restaurant only with a CCW. I believe the school zone distance is also dropped for a CCW holder. State buildings will usually have a secure gun storage locker to store while you are on premises. You also dont have to tell a peace officer right off the bat, but you should. If you are asked by an officer you are required to give a response.

If any place has a "no guns allowed" sign, you may not enter, even with a CCW permit. So dont print. :D

Arizona CCW permits are shall issue, and have reciprocity with like 30+ states. So if you really want to carry nearly everywhere you can get one by applying, passing a background check and taking a CCW course. :D Welcome to Arizona dude!

It's not people walking up to me off the street. I carry at work and I keep it concealed around customers of course and a few of them who were gun people noticed and asked.

Comparing the 20 and 29, I would suggest that you also look at the Springfield XD40 Mod 2. (4" Service Model)

It's size and weight falls between the 20/29. It is thinner than both and comes in a caliber that, based on the lack of widespread use of 10mm, may allow for a greater availability and choice of bullet type.

I EDC a full frame HK VP9. I used to carry a full frame HK45.
The full frame can be cumbersome but it’s definitely doable.
The only issues I run into are sitting in the Raptor or one of the cobras. The grip digs into the middle of my back or my seats so I usually end up taking it out. The VP9 has +5 mag extensions making it 20+1.

Like others have said. The holster makes all the difference. I tried a G-Code with the fancy extra pawl that catches on your belt to hold the grip more inwardly angled and didn’t notice just a huge difference. It’s still my preferred holster for pure comfort though.

Funny, I was not of thinking of this size as full size. Ithought these were medium size. Two most common that I carry are vp9 and walther ppq. Big dif between these and a g20 IMO.

I'm not carrying it yet, but I've got a PPQ that I'm going to try out. I'm accustomed to a Springfield XDs 9, which won't print.

What is your preferred carry method, build and style of dress??? Any printing is too much in my opinion so for me my MP40c in a leather appendix IWB suits my need.

I use to EDC a fullsize PX4 40 in a Comptac MTAC iwb holster just behind my hip, it was comfortable everywhere except when seated. I also didnt like not being able to monitor if I was printing or not. Those 2 reasons are why I went down in size and changed carry location. Appendix is quite comfortable when seated as well, sometimes I need to adjust but its minor.

I do remove my holster when I put a seatbelt on but only because of what could happen with it riding on the holster if I got in an accident. I've only ever had one person notice the shuffle and it was about 10 hours into a 14 hour roadtrip.

Yeah sometimes

Actually last night I left my G43 home and took my 229 out, the other day i had my XDm 45 on my side (forgot how heavy she is full of 230gr hornady lol)

Just get a good holster for it and you even notice after a little bit

I've never considered carrying a full size pistol. I would prefer to carry my HK VP9SK, but the print is enough where I'm not comfortable with it when not wearing a sweatshirt or jacket. Just a personal preference due in part to the fact that I live in CT. Instead, I carry my M&P 9 Performance Shield. It hides perfectly and I'm really comfortable with it.
