Same with my daughter's Architecture classes at UTSA. Not sure how you can build studio models online. She said the professors warned them to be ready because a shit ton of info and work was OTW.
Yeah my professors have not said much. Everyone in my gen chem 2 class is freaking out, because how the hell are we going to do the experiments...

Hang it there. Sorry, that's all I have for you. I work for a multi-national engineering and manufacturing company, and two of our factories are closing tonight at midnight for who knows how long.
I made the decision to shut down the plant and anyone who can work from home, should work. No layoffs and everyone will be paid as if nothing happened. It is going to be an interesting year for sure. We have some excess capacity for some of our products and our customers are still buying.

Active duty army recruiter. Working from home. But now they don’t even want us to “work/ contact people. Also most medical facilities won’t allow people to test/physical due to the virus and such.

So, it started at my workplace.
We're only working 3 days a week,......Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Mondays and Fridays off. We are able to collect unemployment insurance for those 2 days until we're back at full strength.

Aaaaaaaand I just got laid off
Shit, sorry to hear that man. Automotive dealers repair shops are probably going to suffer big time. Any shop that relied on CP to make hours will hurt. Dealers that are in it for warranty work better pray there are enough people that want to get their cars fixed, even if its free.

Working until they force my boss to shut the doors. Gives us a chance to get caught up for once in a very long time.

A developer has pulled out of one of our medium sized projects over the stock market/volatility.

Main developer will continue to push it but hopefully it's not a sign of whats to come.'

Next week I go back into work. Only been working from home due to newborn/wife surgery

Well I was going to work 2 days a week and work from home the rest but my boss told me to just work from home entirely for the next 2 weeks. Ok then.

Still going to work every day. They are splitting up the crew though. We're going to have a second shift now.

Greasy Gavin just shut down the state indefinitely. "May you live in interesting times."

"Marking the most sweeping measure taken by a state to slow the spread of the COVID-19 disease, Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday ordered all of the state’s 40 million residents to stay at home with exceptions for essential work, food or other needs.

Newsom’s order, which does not have a defined end date, mirrors the country’s first regional shelter-in-place mandate instituted just days ago by seven Bay Area counties — Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Santa Clara, San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Cruz.

“This is not a permanent state. This is a moment in time,” Newsom said during a news conference Thursday night. “If we’re to be criticized at this moment, let us be criticized for taking this moment seriously. Let us be criticized for going full force and meeting this virus head-on.”

Under the new statewide mandate, businesses that do not provide “essential services” are required to close. Those allowed to continue operation include grocery stores, health care facilities, pharmacies, gas stations, convenience stores, banks and laundromats, according to a Q&A on the governor’s website. Restaurants are permitted to stay open, but only for delivery and takeout service, according a to the governor’s website."

Welp, starting Monday I'll be working from home until they tell us we can go back to the office.

Laptops are the IT equivalent to toilet paper right now....

Say that again lol.

I received so many calls today from directors looking for laptops/tablets for their workers. What a hectic day.

My wife is full time WFH and I was already WFH 2x per week before all this. Now we are both WFH full time. We are definitely a little stir crazy after only one week. My CEO has put probably 95% of employees on full time WFH. Our government contracts are still valid, so as far as I know, everyone will still have jobs for the near term.

I am also working on my Masters at the same time. Those classes have all switched to remote for the remainder of the semester. My professors have been very slow to communicate any information. One is canceling most of our assignments for the semester. We also have a lot of group projects/presentations, so I'll be interested to see how those adapt. My GI Bill funding is not supposed to change which is good news.

Overall, things are very interesting.

Well my squadron pulled me back to Houston, 2 week at-home "quarantine" to make sure we didn't pick up anything while out of state. Perfect time to catch up on lawn work, house maintenance, fence building, etc.

As of Monday my wife and are working from home. We're fortunate to be able to do that. Expect it will continue through April and likely into May.

I saw a lot of people out at the beach today, and many were not making much of an effort to keep distance between themselves and other people.
In a few instances, I saw groups of people hanging out and touching and, from my perspective, they were doing it intentionally to mock the situation.

I am seeing on social media the same thing. People were out in droves today walking/exercising and trying to get out. While I understand the need to get out, people are really being nonchalant and not keeping enough distance. I am walking my dog between 11pm-1am and 5am-7am, which might be excessive, but at least I am doing my part and keeping distance.

It only takes a few immature people to start spreading this, and it may get to the point soon where so many people have it that this whole shut-down was meaningless. Or......it may get to the point where enforcement will start and we start seeing our rights and freedoms start to go away much like after 9/11.

For this shut-down to work, I think they will have to be more strict with enforcement, or they need to just stop the financial meltdown and only quarantine those most at risk.

My company has had us working from home for a couple of weeks now. We aren't sure when we will be back in the office, but we are good for a while. We are set up pretty well for WFH since we are using our own products (Teams, etc) to make it easier.

Our CEO is making sure all our hourly employees are getting paid even if they are not able to work. Like I said, we can keep this up for a while, but I hope we won't have to do so.

Cops in my area have started going around and enforcing our shelter in place and shutting some business down finally that keep finding loop holes to say they are essential and stay open.

Mine continues to stay open and in my drive back and forth it seems like nothing out of the norm with all the traffic still on the road
