More interior. Adding to the crisp snap of the ash tray door is the equally crisp snap of a perfect latching arm rest lol
I also switched the regular 93 column out for an 87-89 tilt unit and got a fresh real leather momo wheel.

Everything (and I do mean everything) is out from under the car so we can
A) bolt/weld in the wild rides upper and lower torque box reinforcements
B) weld in the anti roll bar
C) extensively clean and paint the undercarriage. I chose a matte grey for a near factory appearance. Thought about black but wanted contrast for the trans and rear axle which are both black. As you can see I’m working my way front to back with the paint. No sense painting the torque boxes until they’re welded in. Pretty significant difference as you can see. I’ll go back and clean the overspray off the brake lines and repaint the subframes black after I’m completely done with the grey. I’m A sucker for sanitary undercarriages

Just wondering, as I have done some restoration on cars myself. Would it no have been quicker and easer to have taped the lines instead cleaning off the paint after?

From a time and materials standpoint, not really. Overall, it’s about the same. I only apply a couple light color coats to ensure consistency so It wipes off in 5 seconds with an acetone soaked rag. Had there been more than just the brake lines to mask, I would have. Wasn’t chasing rotisserie perfection. If I were I would have tried to simulate the factory body color coded overspray rather than painting it a uniform color. Just looking for a clean and distraction free base before re-installing all the new parts

I was looking for a easer path than taping was the reason for the question because it is time consuming.

Sand with 400 and add a nice thick first coat of bondo (similar to what was done on the roof of my car) and time to sand it back smooth. Not doing the entire instrument cluster. Just what can be seen when mounted

Random post. I want to let you all know in light of everything that is happening, I may not know you or about you personally, but I care for each of you, and I’m always available for anything that you need. In spite of my personal beliefs that this whole pandemic is overblown, and possibly bordering on a conspiracy, it still feels like a good opportunity to let you know that a random guy you’ve never met can still have your back. I sincerely appreciate your support, and I pray you and your families are safe and healthy

Great post Joe.
I know you’ve just joined Facebook/social media, so I’d like to hear your take on it, being the hold out that I am; but I’ve always felt platforms like this forum do connect us.
In some way were all dealing with a major disruption in our lives, yet here we are to escape that and find normalcy. I think. :)
Hope to talk to you soon.
