Simple $5 kill switch from Autozone would have saved u a lot of aggravation...... Put them on ALL my cars.

Hello everyone,

So they pushed my 03 Cobra 60k miles out of the driveway and pushed it around the corner. Wi fi jammers for the cameras on all the neighbors houses. U can see them scope it out and then u see it gone but nothing in between. Neighbor's camera down the street picked them up pushing it around the corner and messing with it for a while then starting it and leaving. They had the thing to open the door and bypass by factory alarm. They had a key and the RFid chip mimic device as well. I believe security was an inside man. I also believe I was targeted because there are many other cars to steal here if you have all that technology. There's apparently a group of thieves going in the area (Hollywood, FL)[South Florida Broward/Dade Counties]. No theft insurance like an idiot because its been there parked as a daily for 8 or more years.

So, now that these animals stole my car and I have kind of gotten over it, I figure I let everyone on here know, as well as open it up to everyone's opinion of now what do I buy to replace a daily. I'm a professional mechanic and own an auto repair shop that I work as mobile, all the licenses and permits/insurances and all that so I drive that most of the time. I'm also saving to buy a house so I don't want to spend more than 10k MAX MAX.

My ideas and feel free to roast: I just want a comfortable daily now, but I can't really drive a corolla either. I was looking at 2010 Mercedes E350's which seem to be in that price range. I have also considered a WRX which is less money and fun to mess around in.

Essentially, I'm going to go to the auction to find whatever it is I decide on and just wait until it turns up to avoid getting ripped off at dealers.

What do u guys think?

Yes, hidden under dash or where ever u want. Hook it to starter or ignition solenoid. All the bypass chips, codes and alarms don't mean shit with one of these. And if ur car is parked outside then a $20 wheel lock from Amazon would have prevented them pushing it.

Please explain. A kill switch you can engage remotely?

Seems like a lot of trouble and risk to steal an $18k car.

Anyway, get an S197 GT. I just picked up a 10 GT for $6300. Needs some minor body work. Otherwise runs and drives just fine. Or just bite the bullet and get a Coyote car. You'll forget all about that SN95.

I would think a car thief would find the kill switch under the dash. my 96 cobra has the factory/dealer Ford alarm system. It wont start unless you hit unlock on the fob in the past 60 seconds or if you hold the bypass switch under the dash while cranking.

U would think wrong. A well hidden kill switch will never be found. Doesn't have to be behind the dash. Could be in the trunk or wired to a lighter or in the back seat somewhere or under the hood.

If wired to lighter Take the lighter out or with u and there is no kill switch to turn on. U could even throw the lighter in the glove box. No thief is gonna figure out he needs to put the lighter in to start the car. Buddy drilled a hole in his lighter and attached it to a key ring that comes on/off.

There are a million different ways to hide kill switches and the fact is most car thieves aren't looking for them cause almost no one uses them cause ppl all rely on factory coded keys as a defense which is defeat-able easily with the right equipment.

I work in Auto-theft. I know all their little tricks and the fact is MOST car thieves are amateurs. Juveniles mostly and they aint looking for kill switches.

yep this right here. Had a buddy who's truck would only start if you pushed the lighter in. Also know of switches to shut off fuel pumps and others that are just a hidden flip switch.

And....most car thieves are in a hurry to get it done. They don't have the luxury of spending countless minutes trying to figure how to find a kill switch to disable it. They'd rather move on to the next target. Even if they specifically are after A vehicle, time is crucial. The more time the passes as they try, the more the chance they'll be discovered. JMO.

Your point about most youthful car thieves is spot on. I have a Nest system here at the house and I get notices from neighbors about attempted break-ins. In all of the video clips I've seen, the perps are in their late teens.

I agree. I still think a 'pro' car thief would find one under the dash, which is what I was replying to. And if not, they'll get the car another way if they want it bad enough.

I guess if he was a Pro and knew what to look for then maybe but a kill switch can be camouflaged as just about anything but like Bob said most are in and out and if they can't start it immediately they usually move on.....

America is not the same place it was years ago and the justice system many times just gives them a slap on the wrist.

Several high level Judge assassinations would rectify that situation within 6 months.

These judges are a disgrace regarding every crime from child molestation, dui manslaughter, to rape and murder, the lenient sentencing is a disgrace to the families and a complete denial of justice.

America has become a criminal and liberal wasteland.
