Former professional service tech here. Buy a Rotary lift and never worry about a lift again.

Assuming your slab is capable, I've literally had zero issues with any rotary lift I've used.

I ordered a Rotary 10,000 lb last week.

Went with the asymmetric design.

The lift is mandatory for the GT40, and the Rotary in the SPOA10 TRIO can get the pads down to 4" above the floor.

I paid more than a Bendpak but their stuff is Chinese. Rotary lifts are made in Indiana, so I keep some 'Muricans employed, which is a good thing!

95% of what I do with the lift can be done with a 4 post. The 4 post is a lot easier to get the car in the air. When you have old worn out knees and fading eye sight it is a bitch some times to put the car in the air with the 2 post. Eventually I'll pick up a 4 post so I can fit an extra car on the one side.

That's understandable. Putting the BMW's on the 2 post is always very annoying and you have to get the car centered just right, BMW likes makes the jack points so narrow for some reason.

I have both. The 2 post is somewhat of a pain in the ass to lift our cars. The shelby is too low, the Tundra is too long, the Pilot is too wide to use the jack points and not quite wide enough to use the frame rails, so one side is jack points the other side is frame rails. However once its on the lift there is not much you cant do.

The 4 post is awesome to do oil changes, exhaust work, driveshaft work. etc. It however sucks to change tires and suspension work unless you have a rolling jack tray. But then you still cant drop a motor or trans through the bottom.

I didn't have any big issues lifting the mustang, granted I have jack rails and the car is at stock perf pack height. I sure wish I could convert my challenger 4 post to use camber/caster plates for alignments. I think the larger 4 posts including the next size up have that feature but not the one I have.

I have a symmetric and I should have waited to get an asymmetric. The model I have barely clears the side skirts and it’s stock pp height. Sometimes I have to grab the fender and tug up to get the arm under.

once it’s on i love it, sometimes it’s easier to just grab a jack when swapping my rear tires from street to track

Just an update, I was contacted by a member of our neighborhood car club who told me his son sells/installs Rotary lifts. He says he can get me a used 2-post with top support pulled from a shop that his company has serviced it's entire life for a really good deal installed. Waiting to hear from son about model number and options but this is looking like the route I will go. I will update later after I talk to him. Thanks everyone for the information!

I owned two service stations back in the 70's and we had all kinds of lifts. Each style has its place. However, I think the 4-post is best for home hobbyist. I have a Challenger 4-poster and I love it. As 'sleek98' mentions, you need a rolling jack though. I actually have two rolling jacks on my lift and it is just perfect now. Not sure why 'sleek98' says you can't drop a trans... I could EASILY do trans/engine swap on my 4-poster.

Anyway, to each his own. Main thing is - STAY SAFE! Good luck with whatever you buy.

LOL, what to do when your employees are under a general "stay at home order" from the state of the Missouri?

Install ur damn 2-post lift!

Pretty much done with the mechanical aspect, onto the electrical next.

And now, a shameless plug for Black Rifle Coffee (without which, the lift would still be on the pallet) ;)

Overall, the lift is very high quality. The packaging and instructions are really good (thought the installation manual was a little fuzzy in spots)

Congrats! You'll love the Rotary, I was just using mine this weekend to do wheel hubs on the Mustang and swap the winter wheels off the 19 F150

Love the Rotary! Still waiting to get mine, we were called back from our TDY early so didn't make as much per diem as I planned. Decided to do the dad thing first and buy/assemble my kid a playground (working on it right now actually). Lift will be coming soon. View attachment 1634334

Damn, probably paid a lot more for that than a lift as well..

Oh well, Dad life I suppose. We need to upgrade our play set soon. Oldest is almost 8 and the little guy is 1.

Ended up buying an Atlas Platinum PVL-9BP, ALI- certified 2-post. After getting a quote of $8400 for a Mohawk A-7 I took another look at certified China lifts haha. Due to my 10' walls I had to stick with small baseplate 2-posts. It's getting installed tomorrow!
