I’m just about done. Need to finish the CAI and mount the coolant and PS reservoirs, but there’s not much room available in the engine bay.

Looks like the PS might fit, but the connections will be kinked

I wanted to put the coolant tank between the alternator and fan, but now that the radiator is mounted I’m seeing there isn’t enough room.

Guys on FB pointed me towards a Volvo electric PS pump that can be installed in the fender well.
Grabbed one today for $45

Then I can move the alternator back to its original location where the mechanical PS pump is now. That should free up space for a coolant tank.

Can You post more info about the Volvo power steering? Which car is it from, wiring it up and plumbing it. Also, does it power the Hydro boost?

Didnt you used to be out in Southern IL?

I’m going to install the Volvo PS pump next weekend and will post everything with photos. Hydroboost will remain intact. I grew up in suburbs south of Chicago, but I moved to Las Vegas a long time ago.

I lost motivation and got distracted with other things, but made a point to get something done yesterday.

For the Volvo PS pump, I grabbed a stick of 2” flat stock from Lowe’s. Cut a 14” piece and drilled a few holes to connect to the Uni-body and pump bracket. The 14” straight piece connected to the pump bracket at 2 points.

Took another piece, roughly 10” and bent it 90°

The stock PS plumbed right up. The return line needed a 90° 3/8” barb and 12” hose extension to reach the wheel well, but the stock high pressure line fit without modification.

Finished up all the small things and turned the key... no fuel pressure.

I could hear the pump, but no fuel was flowing. Dropped the tank to find the hose popped off. I must have forgot to put a clamp on.

Once I got that corrected, she fired right up. The initial startup can be seen on my IG Page. Open headers, so it was as loud as you’d imagine.

Had some left over 4ga wire, used it to ground the block.

Used 6ga to for the power steering pump with 80a fuse. Simple setup; power, ground, remote.

Loaded up to get exhaust and SFC’s. Going with 3”, x-pipe, Magnapack mufflers.

Exhaust installation. Cut off the ball flange on the headers. Using V-band to connect. 3” piping, custom x-pipe to MF Magnapacks, turned down. I want tail pipes, but need to get the PHB installed to see how much room there will be.

How was the TA install.
LMR tailpipes supposedly clear the PHB. I bought some but haven't installed yet.

Could probably squeeze 2.5” tailpipe, but 3” doesn’t look like it’ll fit. I’ll know soon enough and report back.

Couldn't get tuned. It was misfiring. Got that fixed, then the MAF wasn't reading. Found out the 6” GT500 filter housing is too large and couldn't get enough air velocity over the MAF.

put the stock air box on, car ran perfect, except it won't fit under the hood, so I'm scrambling to find a 4” JLT to get tuned tomorrow (Thursday). Otherwise I'm waiting until Monday.

The headers melted an AC line, so I am getting a custom line made. It’s really tight between the frame and header.

The TB on 2018 manifold angles upward, so I had to notch the hood to get it to close. I have to go back and clean it up. The picture below is for functionality not aesthetics

I brought it back for tuning, put down 397hp on 91 octane. Guys on the coyote swap FB pages say that’s in line with other cars with similar setups.

There’s something causing oil blow by. You can see smoke if you watch the video on my IG page, so we didn’t go forward with the ethanol tune.

The mechanic who sold me the motor is standing behind the premise that the motor should’ve been 100%, so he’s going to perform a leak down and repair the issue.

I had the same issue with a longtube header melting an A/C line. If you can reposition the line and wrap it with some insulation that will help out a lot with the heat. Also, that is a LOT of blowby.
