So, we all know about the steps being taken to give our Healthcare System a fighting chance with SARS-Cov-2. Experts in the field believe this could be a roller coaster ride for months in trying to keep the system from being overrun until we have a vaccine.

Essentially what we do is quarantine for a while, ease up and allow some “normalcy”, then clamp down again once we see more spread.

What a disruption to the way of life we are accustomed to right?

The industries such as travel and tourism, service workers like wait staff, bartenders, department store employees are going to be impacted the greatest. But maybe we lose some so-called “social media influencers” and YouTube Stars plugging their stucco videos.

Any way, my wife and I had a conversation about what the world will be like after this. This is something we have not seen in 100 years. Please do not site H1N1 virus numbers over the entire course of that versus numbers we are just starting to see. Do not quote Flu numbers either, there are flaws in the reporting of those also.

To say that this will not change the way we live life would be foolish. I truly believe this will have long lasting changes to every day life. I keep seeing the Millenials and younger people think this is a joke and cannot help but wonder what they will think when they start dropping because of the damage vaping has done to their lungs.

But anyway, what do you think life will look like after this?

Will we ever get back to life the way it was 6 months ago?

If you think we will go back to business as usual, how long before it happens?

This is not a political or tin foil hat discussion so take that elsewhere.

Another thread on this nonsense? Nice work.

The flu has killed more and will go down in history as killing more.

Coronavirus wont be stopped. We'll all get it.

Once a vaccine is mass produced we'll look back and laugh at threads like this and the reaction/frenzy we allowed ourselves as a country to fall into.

Some things will change and never go back "the new normal", other things will go back to normal "the old normal". What exactly is yet to be determined as we are too early in the process.

My concern is things will change for the worse permanently. The general atmosphere across the globe has been primed and ready for a major shift but there have only been a few events that have shown the potential of what I believe is on the horizon. Existing political establishments have seen their power slip away, events like the Arab Spring, election of non-establishment politicians to top offices across the world, even charismatic dictators openly reestablishing life long appointments as heads of state. I don't think society has been as primed for massive change since the printing press was introduced to Europe prior to the protestant reformation. Oddly enough, it was the plague then that upset the social order and played a huge part in ushering in the drastic changes to society. I think this will be a tug of war between the various sects of society who seek either control, reform or decentralization of power. The existing powers are already flexing their authority and seeking to expand their power.

So dictators and "existing political establishments" released CV to control the population so they can retain power?

Gotcha.

With the exception of certain necessities being in short supply nothing (nothing important) seems to have changed at least out here.

I think some customs like shaking hands will be a thing of the past. After this is over, it will just feel "weird" to shake someone's hand.

Hopefully this will also eradicate "close talkers".

I agree.

I never used to wash my hands and after the Ebola freak out some years back I started and have never really stopped. I think a good chunk of people will continue washing their hands frequently.

Depends how long it lasts and who is still standing. Remember this effects old people the most. Our politicians are in that group. We could lose many and with new politicians comes new ways of life. If it lasts till april then the 75 degree temps plus starts killing it. Then nothing will change.

I'd love for that to be the case but it's still spreading in hot places like Malaysia

Dunno, just waiting on my free money so I can buy dumb shit. lol

I think we'll just be fine once they can get a handle on the spread and get a vaccine out.

The world has seen worse in terms of pandemics and after it blows over people revert back to the same ole routines.
Some may improve their hygiene but ultimately go back to the same ole dirty ways after a few months.

Economy wise, it happened at the worst time, as this continues to spread, more and more will be faced with smaller paychecks, or none and we may see an uptick in defaults on cars and houses. Shouldn't cause a massive slide, but who the hell knows. All it takes is fear, people start to pull money, stocks slide even more and more sectors start asking for bailouts.

It really highlighted the inadequacies of the Gov, Media, Manufacturing, Supply chains, and general Corporate policy.

We have proof of a lot of things now
  • The market/Global economy is woven together, and as one country falls so do all the rest
  • Supply chain/manufacturing being so spread out leaves little to no room for error
  • Our medicine/health system is severely lacking
  • Our benefits/social stigma towards health is severely flawed. Too many companies lack Sick leave. Too many companies emphasized work first, health second.
  • There is no replacement for good old fashioned labor. You suspend hands on workers and you find yourself with a lot of things shut down.
  • A lot of jobs can be done remotely, which could produce better health, productivity, and general attitude towards the daily grind.
I expect to a lot of things for the better.
