World Ending Soon? | Time to Bolt a Carburetor on your Cobra
Anyone looking to ditch the fuel injection system on their C-Head 4.6L Mod Motor? Since we're getting knee deep in Corona Virus panic mode, it might be time to start thinking simple. While looking through Craig’s List for interesting projects I stumbled upon some odd engine parts. It seems that someone really loved their carburetors, because they built two different carb’d induction systems for the Teksid blocked Lincoln Mark VIII or 1996-98 SVT Cobra Mustangs.
Quad-Deuces are a classic hot-rod look.
The first is a pretty simple design. It just ditches the top intake hat and replaces it with a bolt on plate featuring what appears to be a flange for a Holley 4-Barrel Carb. Simple, but it should work. I’d be interested to see how well it works with the factory IMRC plates.
Someone on SVTP needs to pick these up and start a project.
The second setup is way more complicated, and would probably look pretty good on a Street Rod. It consists of two custom machined intake flanges that bolt directly to the cylinder heads. To those flanges you can then bolt up 4-Weber Style carbs. That’s old school carburetor style at its coolest. I have no idea how well either setup would perform, but if anyone gives it a shot let me know. I can already smell the performance from here. The ignition setup it up to you.
If you want to pick these intakes up, they are still available. Just search for ‘Cobra’ in the Craig’s List link below:
