I am thinking of getting a brahma

I would get a hen that would live in coop with several other hens of various breeds. Anyone have any experience? Tips?

Thanks

There is a fisher that keeps eating members of the current flock. I am wondering if it would e a fair fight against one of these ****ers. Google fisher cat if you are not familiar. Nasty SOBs.

Honestly a full grown one would probably mess his day up. Those roosters are no joke for sure. I would get a pellet gun and take that fisher out.

Chickens are mean, nasty, filthy, cannibals, that lay eggs.

It would be at my in laws. They got a killer dog that I though would deal with it but it barks 100% of the time so it has to be locked up in the garage. Turned out to be a total bust. I will have to find some free time and go out at night with a red light and 223.

For a pest like that we used 22 shorts or ratshot on them. Usually once was enough to get the point across. Im not familiar with Fishers, but let me tell you after getting peppered with some ratshot those coons got the hell out of Dodge.

I actually hve Brahmas. They are like pets, follow me everywhere. They even come running up to the fence when they see us coming.
We get rougly 1 egg per day, per chicken. The books say less but we have feed available constantly to them. Always get at least one rooster if you dont want to have to buy chicks in the future.
Our 10 chickens go through 50 lbs of feed a month..so, $9 dollars a month for around 300 eggs.

Awesome, thanks. Did you buy yours online? If so do you have a recommendation?

I got mine at Big R before it switched to Stock and Field. Its a farm store. Just double the area recommendations for standard sise chickens...these girls are good sized.

We have 6 chickens and 3 ducks. Chickens are rhode island reds, asian blacks, and Ameraucanas. They all live in the same coop and get along fine.

A brahma won't help your situation, the coop needs to be fortified or the cat taken out. They are a cool breed though.

Edit: I've got barred rock, australorp, and New Hampshire.

Had a Guinea rooster for awhile to keep the foxes out of our old coop. Mean sons of bitches.

Yeah they give zero ****s about anything. My grandpa had 2 of them and they were the meanest little shits I ever saw.

I had 10 Rhode Island Red chicks but 9 died lol. That’s what I get for drop shipping them to my home. The lone survivor is champing it out and at this point I’m eating for the weather to break and I’ll set a coup up outside and get a few more to add to the mix.

so far the one I have is super friendly since I’ve been handling it daily.
