Diesel Brothers Hit With $850,000 Fine for Tampering With Truck Emissions

Wow, i know these guys are filthy stinking rich but $850k coming out of your business all at once is nothing to sneeze at. Even worse is being banned from selling any future modified diesels. I guess its just lift kits and wheels and tires from here on out.

There's gotta be alot of similar shops around the country sweating hard right now. An entire industry has been created on doing DPF deletes.

I agree the rolling coal is useless, especially when it is the sole intent of modifying the truck. But this whole movement in the diesel community is setting a dangerous precedent for the car modifying industry as a whole. The argument for the suit was deleting emissions equipment and increasing emissions output from stock. I would feel pretty safe assuming the vast majority of vehicles on this forum have been changed in some way that increases emissions output from stock.

This is a little concerning for sure.

If they ever decide to really coordinate and mobilize, a relatively small number of environmental activists would be able to cause a lot of problems for mod shops across the country. It's super easy to file a suit, and it's not like the shops can actually fight it with any hopes of winning, as they are 100% knowingly violating numerous local/state/federal laws. They wouldn't stand a chance in court, and will end up with hefty personal fines that can't be shed in bankruptcy court.

Yup, all these DBs need to do is buy parts online (and ship to a CARB state) and pay tuners to install them and go "ah ha!! Violators will be VIOLATED!!!"

Good point.

Wouldn't even need to be a CARB state really, though that would be easier. Utah is probably one of the least restrictive state out there, and look what happened.

15 largest container ships in the world create more pollution then all the cars in the world combined.

Let that sink in for a minute.

If your worried about the environment, plastic straws and a few dozen bro dozers is not the problem.

Imagine if they decide to go after bigger YouTube channels that blatantly show themselves removing emissions on street cars.

squeaky wheel gets the grease, they were the most visible....honestly I hate these coal rolling faggots and the scrutiny they have brought down on all automobile enthusiasts, industry etc....thanks m'fers EAD and die....

Preach my dude.

In all seriousness it didn’t seem like they were going after the bigger fish so to speak. I read some small 2/3 man performance diesel shops getting big fines as well.

I think it's a matter of perception for the general public. The EPA knows damn well that there are all kinds of performance shops out there that are circumventing emission controls and equipment. The general public is less likely to give two shits because they don't "see it". What the general populace does see are the dip shit assholes that like to roll coal everywhere they go.

Yes, perception is key. People can deal with sound and some smells but seeing a pig rich truck on the street acting like it's participating in a tractor pull gets attention of just about everyone. People like them are more retarded than the Hanson brothers with their suitcase of toys.

If you think this will stop with diesels you're nuts.
