If I were looking to buy a new cruiser I'd be looking hard at the new Triumph Rocket 3. Unless of course you have to look like every other bike on the road. Then by all means get a Harley or Harley lookalike.

Well I'd recommend the Ducati Multistrada 950s as I'm saving up to buy one myself. Go ride it and tell me you don't want it. They also offer a larger 1260s that is crazy fast. Most Ducati dealers offer demos too..

Check it out:

If the style isn't your thing, I cannot help ya. But I'd say it's at least worth a look in person if you're shopping for a new bike. Good luck and post some pictures of whatever you end up buying!

I'll throw my 2 cents in here. I have 4 motorcycles, been riding most of my life and still love it. I own a Harley Ultra with all the bags and goodies, a 2005 Harley V-rod Screaming Eagle, Triumph Tiger, and a Yamaha FJR. My riding consists of 95% local paved backroads, about 130 miles per ride. We sometimes run dirt roads which is why I have the Triumph. I am 6' tall and weigh 200lbs.

What you will find out is a motorcycle choice is very much a personal preference and will probably change with time. As already mentioned, go for test rides, most are quality products but will handle very differently and ergonomics will be a big factor in your choice. What is comfortable for me my not be for you.

When I first started riding I didn't want or need a windscreen but soon found that I preferred one. My FJR has an electric up and down screen and it does get used. Windscreens can buffet your head depending on how tall you are. I also didn't care if I had cruise but don't want to be without it now even for short trips.

Buy used and save a ton of money. Most people will add options that you may enjoy and they do not get to charge for them. For example my 2005 V-Rod cost over 35k new and I would sell it today for 9k with 5k miles on it and it is perfect. Not a good investment.

If I had to have one motorcycle it would be my Triumph. It is fun on dirt roads and is very happy at 80mph on the hard road, straight or curvy.

What ever you choose, be safe and have fun doing it.

As soon as you get either one of those bikes on a highway you’ll want a windshield. The upright position without a windshield will get annoying really fast. A windshield, cruise control and bags are priceless on a bike and make it versatile. I have a 2009 Electra Glide Classic that I bought new and told myself I would get the quick detachable hardware to remove the tour pack. I still haven’t removed it because it’s so useful. I was looking through Cycletrader last week and can’t believe the deals out there. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a used bike.

personally I would buy Indian over Harley, but I don't ride either brand. I also agree and vote Ducati for that sector bike.

Why indian over harley? I'll admit I like harleys but i try to be as unbiased as possible doing a demo event last year at the indian dealer. The only 2 upsides I could find on the indian were the adjustable windshield and the infotainment.

Just like to hear others opinions on the 2 brands

Soon as Polaris bought the rights to Indian, they probably immediately began plans to shutter Victory Motorcycles. They wanted a way to directly compete with HD and no matter how good Victory was, its branding didnt have anywhere near the same power as HD's oldest rival.

Realistically, its very similar tech and core engineering with Vintage Indian styling. They have always made a great bike but Victory styling was hit or miss. You see an Indian Motorcycle, you know what it is.

Just put down deposit for 2020 Fat Bob. I took a good look at an Indian Bobber, but it honestly felt cheap to me.

Congrats man, hope you enjoy it, they are great bikes for sure. 114 is the only engine offered on the fat bob isn't it? Can't imagine that thing if someone put on the new 131 upgrade!
